Looking forward to playing our arch rivals Oxford today. Couldn't go last season but the season before I went and Hollywood bowl ended up being closed down and it always promises to be a spicy affair.
Form has picked up and we have a good record at Oxford. It seems too good to be true that we will win. I will go for a 2-1 away win for us with Jak finally getting on the scoresheet to reward his hard work. Nothing would surprise me though.
I wonder what team he will put out, apparently a few of the players have been unwell according to Rodman. If GC sticks with playing pretty much the same team then the biggest question will be who starts out of Sercombe and Reilly?

Three wins in a row would be a terrific achievement if we could manage it and some turnaround in form! Come on you blues!

Big mistake GGMI! You were obviously up too early for me, doing the matchday thread! I was about to make it 3 out of 3 with another 2-1 prediction, with Jak and Ollie Clarke scoring, so I hope you haven't broken our run of wins, both at Oxford and since I started the matchday threads?

Winning there again would be a big ask but suddenly GC had found a team that have surprised us as winning away at Walsall was no mean feat. I’m going to suprise myself and say 5-1 away win - well it’s only going to go one way or another

With the games in such proximity I reckon we might see a change or two. Would love to see sercombe start in a 4.4.2.
I will take a draw right now. Can only see the odd goal in it if there was to be a winner. Come on you blue boys

Really vital to get at least a point to prevent Oxford opening up a six point gap.I think I’d play Sercombe in the no.10 role behind Jakubiak for this one leaving the rest the same

Same starting line up with a bench available that can influence the game. Be happy with a point.
Good luck those that are going to watch.

Aaaaghhh - why didn't we wait for Jester to kick this one off?
Come on Gas, let's hope this hasn't jinxed anything - at least a point today please, but ideally a nice 2 or 3-1 win would be a great way to end 2018.

Interesting article about Oxford. Sounds a bit like reading about Rovers, except this guy seems to think they have a shout for the play-offs! www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/oxfordunited/usnews/17324368.oxford-united-have-money-to-spend-in-january-says-owner-sumrith-thanakarnjanasuth/OXFORD United have money to spend on new signings if required next month, according to owner Sumrith ‘Tiger’ Thanakarnjanasuth. The Thai businessman travelled to the UK for the Boxing Day defeat to Southend United and will also attend today’s home game with Bristol Rovers before flying home. It comes at a crucial moment, with the transfer window opening next week. Boss Karl Robinson said earlier this month players would have to leave to make room for additions. While some existing loans may be cut short and others on permanent deals could leave on temporary spells, Tiger insists there is scope for investment. After already securing a move until the end of the season for winger Jordan Graham, which begins on Wednesday, more additions are expected with the aim of a strong second half of the campaign. The U’s chairman said: “We have been working on the January window for a month. “We’ve started with Jordan Graham and we still have two or three coming. “We want to loan some out to get more experience. “If he (Robinson) needs to spend some money to strengthen the team, then we’ll do it.” He added: “I still think we should get to (the) top ten. But you never give up and if we get another 48 points we can still go to the play-offs. You have to aim high. “If not this season then next season it’s our aim to get promotion.” It has emerged in the past few days that United are spreading the recruitment net further afield. Robinson admitted his trip to Belgium last weekend did not go exactly as planned, but it was an area of interest. He said: “There are players we like in all different areas. “The north of France, Belgium, south-west Holland is a really gettable place for us. Sometimes it’s easier for us to get there than it is to Liverpool or Manchester.” The possibility of spending money comes hot on the heels of United being served with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Customs over a bill of almost £150,000. It was paid before the High Court hearing and Tiger, who put the issue down to external factors over moving the money into the UK, is optimistic it will not be repeated. He said: “It was the transfer process. I don’t think it’s going to happen again. “It’s all sorted.”

Bristol Rovers head to the Kassam Stadium looking to make it three wins in a row as they face Oxford United. The Gas have completely sold out their 1,400 allocation for the trip to the Kassam as Graham Coughlan's side attempt to move further up the League One table. No tickets will be available on the day and the match is not being streamed on iFollow for UK and Ireland viewers. You can follow all the action on the Bristol Live blog with kick-off at 1pm. Word from the Rovers camp Coach Chris Hargreaves faced the press ahead of the game today and he was hand to bring all the latest updates from the camp. Asked about the challenge from Oxford, he explained: "Position-wise, it's a big game but I don't think we look too much into it. All we look at is every day training and the next game. "You have to keep an eye on perhaps one game in front because they're so close but we're just focusing on trying to do our best for the team, for the players, for the fans and for the club. That's all you can do, isn't it? "Oxford are a tough side, Karl Robinson is an experienced manager and they've turned a bad spell around and pulled off some great results. "Obviously they lost in their last home game. It's a game we're looking forward to, the lads can't wait to play, so we're trying to tell them to go and enjoy the football." Rodman thanks the fans
Bristol Rovers winger Alex Rodman has sent a message to the Gasheads ahead of the Kassam clash.
He said: "It's incredible.
"We've talked about it in the changing room how vocal they are and how good they are.
"My dad's been to the last couple, he went to Sunderland and he went to Walsall and he said the vocal support of him being in there, right in the thick of it, was fantastic.
"The noise they made up at Sunderland was incredible and it's certainly not lost on us - they play a big part of it and taking a strong following like that to the away games is brilliant."
On consistent team selection
The former Shrewsbury Town man also spoke about the difference under the caretaker boss.
he has started every game under caretaker boss Graham Coughlan and has repaid that faith with two goals in three matches, and the 31-year-old feels he is benefiting from consistency.
He said: "One of the main things Cogs has said that if you've got the jersey, the shirt is yours to lose and no one wants to lose the shirt once they've got it.
"Everyone is doing everything they can personally to keep that and I think some of the continuity and confidence building you can get from that continuity is obviously showing in some of the performances.
"I think there's a few of the lads, myself included, who would have benefited more from playing more regular minutes and having that continuity and hopefully that's showing on the pitch."
He added: "Cogs and Chris Hargreaves have been fantastic with me. As I said, the fitness and playing regularly, 90 minutes after 90 minutes and the continuity gives you more confidence and allows you to really up the levels.
"Hopefully we can continue to do that."
Still retires
Former Bristol Rovers coach John Still has retired from football management.
Still has been in management for 42 years but he has decided to call it a day at the age of 68 as he leaves Barnet.
He spent one season at the Gas as assistant manager to Ray Graydon in 2002/03 but spoke fondly about the Gas after Barnet's FA Cup win over Rovers earlier this season. He now takes the job as Bees head of football, with Darren Currie in temporary charge of the first team.

I'd start another one if I was you.
