I see that the club are only opening the Thatchers end and the West and South west stands. I hate it when half the ground is closed, the atmosphere is non-existent. I suppose the expected low crowd justifies the partial opening, but I just don't like it. Hopefully that'll encourage more people to boycott then

Man City trying to organise an EFL competition! If you can't see why a boycott should continue then you'll see B Teams in L1 & 2 within 10 years! Money talks! You are probably correct but a boycott (even though it's a good idea) will not delay anything at all. Like you said 'Money talks' so if they want it to happen it will happen - even if every Checkamickeymousetrade cup game has zero attendance! I agree with your statement, but would say that if you believe something is not right then you should act as best you can to make your point (in this case non-attendance is about all you can do). Never mind that you end up (maybe) on the losing side. You are at least sticking with your principles and can go to Valhalla with them intact.

Shows how bad things are at the moment that a QF with Port bloody Vale in the worst competition in my lifetime has got people sacking off a national boycott and the health of the lower leagues, which by the way we have been in since 1993 and show no signs of exiting (the right direction) any time soon. Don't scab on yourself.

How have boycotts worked so far? The Checkamickeymousecup has had ridiculously low gates since it started...but it is still going. It is of no concern to the big clubs if nobody turns up. The income from gates is peanuts compared to their budgets. I totally get it why people don't go to watch these games but not going to watch will not change anything. Do you really think Man City with all their money give a damn about the little clubs? Of course they don't. The biggest shame is that as the Johnson Paint Trophy it was an exciting (ish) competition until the FL buggered it up!

Don't be ridiculous if you think League Clubs will vote to keep the Under 21s out when they are given cash incentives. If they were going to do this it would have been done this year after last years competition. The fact the Under 21s are in it this year proves that boycotting the games penalises nobody other than our football club. It will never go back to how it was. All that boycotting Tuesdays game will do is reduce the chances of us getting through to the semi finals and maybe a bit more money for GC to spend on players.

That's why i feel it's important to send that message to clubs now. Even if they never try again this competition is dead to me as long as reserve sides are in it, and i used to attend the early rounds. If your happy watching it that's fine, i'm not and never will be.

The EFL take a cut from every attendance, so boycotting does have a financial affect on their revenue.
You can help fund the club in alternative ways and not attend.
If the final at Wembley was attended by a meagre attendance because of boycott, the EFL would lose thousands. It costs a small fortune to hire for the event, and boycotting all events, especially the final deprive the EFL which is a useful tool to oust an unuseful tool in Harvey.

If they were going to do this it would have been done this year after last years competition. All that boycotting Tuesdays game will do is reduce the chances of us getting through to the semi finals and maybe a bit more money for GC to spend on players. I think you massively underestimate how strongly a lot of people feel about U21 teams being introduced into lower league competition Steve. Clearly the cash incentives offered were and continue to be decisive in allowing the current structure to continue which will be subject to short term review. Clearly if people are happy to engage and support games in this competition, that will continue longer term and will send a green light to the authorities that sufficient tolerance exists for this to become permanent. The prospect of U21 teams entering league structure would obviously be greater. I can't dictate and control what others do on this issue. What I do know is that if significant numbers let their thoughts be known in the only meaningful way, by not engaging with games in the competition, it sends a powerful message to the powers that be that U21 teams won't be tolerated in lower league competition. If you genuinely don't care about the future health of Bristol Rovers and lower league football or choose to bury your head in the sand so you can enjoy a night out, so be it. It's absolutely your decision and your prerogative. But please don't try and peddle this false and damaging narrative that supporters have zero influence on the way this is heading and are in some way betraying the club by sticking to their principles on this issue. It wasn't so long ago that many Liverpool supporters took meaningful action by boycotting an away game at Hull over excessive ticket prices. I'm sure many were skeptical at the time and clearly represented a sacrifice for those who didn't attend. This action, along with other campaigning, led to the Premier League capping prices on away tickets which was unprecedented. Tuesday's game isn't one the club will have budgeted for so the idea of damaging the club by making a stand is off the mark. If anyone is concerned about that, there's plenty of other products the club offer which will provide them equal income. The Football League was founded in 1888 and is the oldest and most envied structure in the world. It's been built on several key and fundamental principles including promotion, relegation and one club-one team. The shift on the latter to allow the richest at the table to field more than one team and literally play by a different set of rules is frankly an insult to the history and integrity of the football league and to clubs like ours who still harvest realistic, albeit fading dreams, that we could rise up the ladder and compete at the top.

Amen, falsey9....
Especially about the history of English football league.
It's not like the elite teams don't have huge advantages already!?

Though I agree with the principles of those boycotting, I cannot see it ever going back to the original format. I think it more likely that they would scrap the competition altogether. This competition gives PL academy sides oppertunity to play against lower league sides without the need to actually put academy sides into the lower leagues. I think all boycotting will achieve is the scrapping of the competition, which may suit some. The problem is once it's gone PL teams might still want to test their academy players against lower league sides and with no other alternative they may push harder to get academy sides into the lower leagues.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but wasn't the initial reasoning behind Prem u21 teams playing in this competition, to allow young lads to gain experience to aid the England national team ?
Freedom of movement within Europe has meant anyone with an EU passport can play in or leagues, (no issue with that), but it does mean the development squads of the top teams are full of non English players, which doesn't help my first statement !!!
I believe each teams match day squad should have a minimum number of UK qualified players in it, which I think was tried (& why Fergie's all conquering team had a big UK contingent)
The trouble with all of this, is that the TV have the ultimate power/control, they say jump. the leagues ask "how high ?"

I know it is wishful thinking but can any monies from EFL trophy be used as ' additional income' in January transfer window ?. Another words if we get to the semi finals . Can we use the £150k so far ( if we beat Vale ) and any estimated income from a Pompey semi ?. I know it won't happen but what are the rules within F.F.P and could income from this cup be used to booster squad budgets ?.

Just to play devil's advocate - if (and it's a big if) the board said that all funds raised at the Port Vale game would go to GC for transfers would those choosing to boycott change their mind and actually attend? I realise it's not going to be a massive amount of money but it might be enough to tip the balance for one player.

So if we don't boycott this cup there will be B Teams playing in our lower leagues in the future. Will it be all Premier league sides that put out a B Side or just the top couple. Just so I know what I'm protesting against. Thanks in anticipation.
