The club is trying to appease the fanbase by giving them nothing statements - just like the Bristol post is telling us "we were in for a player...but it fell through", both the board and the Bristol post are great at obfuscating the truth so I am surprised that someone can believe one so vehemently over the other. And I did answer your point about the necessity and obligation blah blah blah. I get that they can't tell us everything but their insistence on telling us nothing? I don't buy it, there are enough posters who have made a case for why it is utterly ridiculous that they have wrapped the training ground in confidentiality. And we have passed the one year anniversary of the consultants who were appointed during the Bodin sale. Who are they? What have they got to show for their efforts? Or was this just another nothing statement with no substance like all the others? We can all make our own minds up about that but given what the board have managed to achieve so far and DC's categoric statement that nothing will be built during the length of his 5 year contract I know what my money is on. And where have you got me believing one so vehemently over the other? I would suggest all the vehemence is coming from the board haters who whine about not having communication, and then whine when we get communication, and whine about not signing any players, and then whine when we sign a player, etc. And the rest of your post is, of course, just whining about the board and nothing to do with what I said. Maybe I've got you mixed up with someone else, but IIRC you seemed pretty happy to take the latest statement at face value yet you accuse the bristol post of coming up with 'bullshit' ('bullshit' is pretty vehement, imo). Given the board's track record of saying stuff that they can't deliver on I don't see any difference in the board making claims they can't prove and the bristol post doing the same. But I do agree with oldie about the thread being de-railed. I feel I've made my point about about not holding the board to the same standard as the evening post and I will leave it at that.

Which statement are you talking about? Usually I'm happy to take what the club says at face value, coz there's not a lot of point not doing so, and generally what they say (even though it isn't what we want to hear) is actually pretty coherent and consistent. It's much more coherent and consistent than fans coming up with weird theories in order to explain their disbelief, like Dwane is pumping £1M a year into the club, but that isn't real money coz it's just a loan, and they're only pretending to look for a stadium because when their liabilities match the valuation of the Mem then they're gonna sell up and make a huge profit by, presumably, magic. I don't see the boards track record much different to the previous board who had an imaginary stadium and increased our debts while paying for average players we couldn't really afford just to make us stand still (or go backwards). The only difference I can see is that they had a picture of a stadium they couldn't build. I imagine that if Dwane came up with a picture of a stadium they couldn't build a lot of people would say that was good communication. But your point about holding the board to the same standard as the Evening Post is a bit weird coz obviously it depends on context (that you seem to be deliberately ignoring for some reason, and that I've mentioned twice and you're still ignoring). Obviously I hold the BP to a higher standard of writing a news article in a newspaper. And obviously I hold the club to a higher standard of coming up with a football team in League 1. Obviously.

No. Again without wanting to derail the thread my viewpoint is based squarely on the frustration that when they took over we had a stadium deal in place- that stadium deal is not going to happen now (we don't know why), we have a mothballed piece of training ground land and loads of statements that effectively say "we would if we could but we can't". Suppprting them based on their track record requires blind faith and I don't do blind faith. That's it.

Ever since Jack Vittles left the BP, the standard of journalism has plummeted. Articles are regularly strewn with spelling mistakes, clickbait and misinformation, I tried to avoid it where possible. Only decided to post this because usually when they stick their neck out and claim to have a source from within the club, it's a credible one. Bearing in mind of course that it's now a Mirror Group paper, or is it Reach. An awful lot of it is now cut & pasted from the parent paper. ... and forums!

That's not strictly correct all we had were approved plans, I understand the previous owners never had a "deal" in place just some kind of gentleman's agreement which itself all revolved around the club selling the Mem to Sainsbury's for £30m+.

i wonder which fictional strikers these are? We all know a few will leave and probably none (or 1 at the most) will come in and we will try and make do with what we have.

They have funded player acquisition. DC said his budget has improved every year. They have improved the shop and bars. They have improved the food. They have relaid the pitch. (Twice) They bought the Colony. They stalled the UWE deal. No one knows why. The training ground is mothballed. No one knows why. They haven't done any harm to the club and they haven't done anything particularly positive either. Surely then, without using blind faith, your position on them should be neutral? There is no more evidence of anything negative than there is positive.

There is no more evidence of anything negative than there is positive. They've used sponsors money to make some cosmetic imorovements. Small bits and pieces have been upgraded such as turnstiles etc. That's all nice and everything but when they came in it was under the impression that there would be infrastructure change and they didn't exactly tell us that they weren't able to deliver that. But three years on there is still the white elephant of our current stadium with temporary stands bolted on all over the place and a temporary training ground we have extended our lease on. What is the plan to change all of that? Is there even a plan? It's like the loch ness bloody monster- they hint at it but no-one can prove it exists. Actually, scratch that, we have photos of what could be the loch ness monster...In three years they have managed to get us back to where we were for a long time under Higgs reign, going nowhere in terms of development and with no real discernible plan. I didn't for one minute believe all that guff about how much money they had but being Jordanian bankers I at least thought they could get the UWE off the ground. To be where we are 3 years on is very disappointing indeed, especially when DC seemed to think that they have no cogent plan to develop anything in the short term. My expectation is that we will still be in the same situation in another 3 hears being fed statements that tell us that they would build something but they can't because of confidentiality.
