Tony Craig probably has one season left in his legs, if that and has made mistakes that others would have been dropped for. We have seen what sticking with non performers and players who are either at the end if their career or simply not good enough can bring. Would be immensely disappointed if true, no where near enough good young prospects being blooded from our ranks and we do not seem to have any money to bring quality in.

Wouldn't be fussed. Not as good IMO as others seem to think he is. MotM after a long absence v Northampton and also scored. He can also actually pass the ball out of defence rather just hoof it, although he needs game time somewhere for the rest of the season. Agree a player we should keep. However wasn't someone saying on here his dad was tweeting about the frustrations of him not getting an look in. Maybe this is what Chris Hargreaves meant in his recent interview about respecting players wishes but trying to act in the best interests of the club.

League one players make mistakes. Tony Craig has bailed us out of far more situations than he has got us into. How many times has he made a goal line clearance this season? If someone is curating these stats they’d make for scary reading. Our goal difference tells this story in conjunction with our goals scored. And 3 clean sheets on the bounce. The only thing you can really knock our defence for is their distribution. Our league position has more to do with the fact our top scorer only has 3 goals (sourcing that from the Hargreaves interview). Without our defence we could be right at the bottom. EDIT: agree with the one season comment though.Think he’d be a fantastic individual to keep on as a coach as players like him are extremely rare these days.

Apparently on a 2 and half year deal. Never given a real chance at the gas Wouldve it been different if his shot at Charlton (best player on the pitch) went in from 45 yards. Fair play to him if he gets first team football... nobody is getting younger. Good luck Tom. UTG

CH also said scoring goals is a team, not individual problem, I assume better distribution from the back leads to better quality football/more chances being created, if not then every team we play would also just be hoofing it forward, Wimbledon style. Tomorrow's game will be an interesting one as in our last two games we've reverted back to our pre GC/CH problems of creating very few chances for the strikers.

I think a few on here have bought into his story more than his performances. He wasn't a starter under DC and he isn't a starter under GC. Worth remembering that GC has made changes and was the defensive coach working with Broadbent daily. He is an adequate CB for this division and/or a good CB for L2. If it's not a loan I would assume he just wants first team football, nothing more, nothing less. He is replaceable so wouldn't worry too much and thank him for his service.

I guess we've got Rollin as back up but we've seen so little of him this season it's impossible to know if he's progressing or not.

I think it’s a mistake to have let him get to this point where he wants to leave tbh. Loved seeing him play it out of defence. I don’t think it’s to do with progression - as i’d say Broadbent was probably ahead of Menayese as it stands - but he just wants to play football. That’s the issue with ‘continuity, consistency, confidence’, you have to let some players go that are genuinely too good to sit on the bench every game. My hope is we use the cash generated, as he was a free triallist, towards buying a new LW/Striker

Wonder why Swindon came for Broadbent and not Menayese, seeing how he was first choice last season for them, and they were doing better then.

BBC wiltshire sport were reporting on twitter that it is rumoured to be a free transfer too. Is he in the last 6 months of his contract?

Can't see Tom being on big wages, so probably won't free up that much money.

Disappointed were not getting a fee. Hopefully there are decent add ons and sell ons.

Getting a fee for someone who is close to 27 and has had only two full professional seasons could be a good bit of business. He had a handful of good games at the start of last season and quite a few bad ones since that people are happy to forget.
It looks like two managers have made a decision that he isn't ready to be a League One starter and if he was as good as a lot of people are making him out to be Championship/League One clubs would be after him and he wouldn't be dropping down a league. I'd be very surprise if Swindon make money on him considering his age and league experience.

I’m not too happy about him going permanently for no fee. I accept he is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing week in week out but I was hoping that he’d get that through a loan or even some game time with us rather than elsewhere. He has untapped potential, a big, powerful central defender that was supremely confident on the ball and good in the air, made the occasional mistake but never got the game time to iron them out. In my opinion, he was the long term successor to Craig and had a bright future with us.
I wish him all the best but this could really come back to bite us, especially with no fee.

If it’s true that we are letting him go for free then I have to say we are officially the worst team in the world to do transfers.
We let our best players go for peanuts or for free. We then just allow our other players to go for free as well.
Yet, if we wanted to sign a back up CB from a L2 team it would cost us £100k no doubt.

Menayese is probably seen as the better prospect and worth time developing. About time he was given some game time.
