I think we will regret this.
Give it 3 seasons and he will be a better player than Locks.

Being realistic, how much can a player who is 27 in just a few weeks, actually still develop?

In Lockyer's defence, I think he's played well this season. He's not the tallest and his distribution is questionable at times but he's fast, reads the game really well and always puts his body on the line for the team. He's just turned 24 but already has over 250 appearances for the football club, a great servant for the club.
Broadbent has all the attributes to be a great CB in the future and I'm sorry to see him go but at 26 soon to be 27 he wasn't getting into our first team and does need to be playing week in, week out.

Being realistic, how much can a player who is 27 in just a few weeks, actually still develop? He's not the ave 27 yr old pro, he only turned pro in last few years after years of helping to destabilise the world, causing a immigration issue, brexit and ultimately the destruction of the the uk. But back to the issue in hand, he had a proper job whilst others were already at clubs wining about how hard life as a pro athlete is. I think he will kick on pretty rapidly in next season or so.

Boom !!! Have that Henbury !!!!! Bit off to go at a solid Gashead and poster like that. He’s got a point though , as much as HG is a ‘solid gashead’ he does like to sh** stir from time to time , even he would admit that , I’m sure HG didn’t take it to heart, unless he’s asked you to come out in his defence 😉

Sorry that he is going especially as he was my doppelganger but best of luck Tom and thanks for what you have done on and off the pitch.

Imagine if he was given a run of games and not dropped every time he played well Do you think he is currently better than TL and TC? I appreciate that he showed promise and with a run of games would have improved significantly, but given the majority of the time since he signed we have been up against it in the lower reaches it is hard to let him learn on the job, the more experienced pairing is needed. I think he could go on to be a really good player, but we don't have the luxury to field him in our predicament. I trust that DC and GC both probably did rate him and recognise his potential, but ultimately was not ready to play now and the fact that he has dropped to L2 would suggest that other teams in L1 have a similar opinion or they would have snapped him up. I think our biggest mistake was not loaning him out earlier on in his contract top get him the experience so could then push for a regular place here.Which is a good point, if we'd loaned him to Swindon last season instead of Rollin he could well be our first choice CH this season, or it could be obvious he wasn't up to Div 1 football. I sense this is a very good bit of business by Swindon, hopefully GC can pull off something similar with the players he brings in rather than bringing in the likes of Mensah, Nichol & Payne

Boom !!! Have that Henbury !!!!! Bit off to go at a solid Gashead and poster like that. Come off it baggins. He tosses in a different rumour every week. One minute he backs the board and the next he doesn't. One minute he calls our players clowns, the next they all deserve our support. He throws it all out there, and shouldn't complain when he's picked up on it. As gassy says, nothing is ever true. You'd think with the amount of hints he drops he might get near the mark occasionally, but that just shows that monkeys and typewriters do not produce the works of Shakespeare. I'm sure he's a lovely man in real life, but this is about his posts, and they are anything but solid.

Can't blame him for wanting a move.He has never ever had a run of games since he got here Aug 2017. He will go on to greater things. The undroppable Lockyer-Beckenbauer remains to "boss" (cough),the back three/four. He will never be Steve Elliott if he plays another thousand games. Flatters to deceive every time he plays.I bet he is well chuffed that Broadbent is going. Sad day for a great prospect. Good Luck Tom. Absolute nonsense post.

We could never risk playing him week in, week out in such a vital position. Hopefully a fresh start at a lower level will see him playing regularly! We need better than what we’ve got and don’t have time to blood people. Good luck Tom!

Feeling the need to slag off a home grown talent who has achieved a lot of success with us at the young age of 24.

Anyone who speaks their mind on here, most of the time, runs the risk of getting coated off. Depending on who it is of course. Rest my case. The Undroppable Tom prefix was created for a reason. Who are you to decide what people should or should not think about the Rovers squad as individual players. I suppose 12,000+ posts gives you the right.

Very sorry to see Tom go I felt he should have been our first choice central defender.
