www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47027267Agree with Adams views 100% - haven't seen an anti-football team like Wycombe for quite a few years. This isn't sour grapes for losing but did anyone else also feel that the Wycombe players also (probably under instruction) hoofed more balls over the stands than in an average rugby game ?!

Yeah, Wycombe were appalling. I'd rather finish 20th then have to watch them every week.
(Unfortunately, I'd rather watch them every week than finish 21st.)

They played like a poor Conference side - sadly, we played just as bad- but at least we didn't stall the game with playacting, time wasting and although we did do a bit of 'hoof' ball it was nowhere near as much as what they did. Their RB could only do one thing, hoof it as far as he could- usually directly upwards! We were appalling that day but at least we know we are capable of a better standard normally. I suspect that is how Wycombe play every week.

I agree with the OP, but just shows how bad we are that we couldn't find a way to win (or even draw) against that rubbish.

I agree with the OP, but just shows how bad we are that we couldn't find a way to win (or even draw) against that rubbish. It was an incredibly frustrating performance by us on the day. GC has developed a good system for away games - and Im confident we'll pick up away points in most away games now. It's a different kettle of fish being at home as the Burton and Wycombe games showed - both teams packed their midfield and we didn't have the nous, tactics and determination to break through them PLUS the players. We need a couple of additions to make the difference to change our home form. The tall, mobile striker and possibly a left -footer out wide (Bennett is too headless and Matthews is not L1 level (yet ??) who can chip in with assists and goals.

Yes and that starts with the captain who doesn't even question any refereeing decision. I am not suggesting we act like those in the premiership surrounding the Ref at every chance but we do need to question them as they are only human and do make mistakes.

I agree we were poor against Wycombe but their tactics are to make it a stop-start game to stop the opposition getting up a head of steam. Not too worried about their hoofball - it was the constant dropping to the floor with supposed head injuries that conned the ref into stopping the game when we had the ball. It's frustrating to play against and Plymouth obviously had the same problem loosing 1-0 as well. I can't understand why a player isn't immediately sent to the touch line to receive treatment if it is a head injury - after all it doesn't stop his legs from moving!

You can have passive captains, you didn't see Macca or Andy Tillson going ape sh** at the ref. You do however need characters around them that can do that job. Macca was backed up by likes of Mansell, Monkhouse, Easter, Mildenhall and even to an extent Ellis. The whole idea of a captain needs to be chest out pashun doesn't really work. If he isn't that however he needs to be supplemented by other players.

I'll be glad when we've got some decent Under 21 Sides in our league to play against. At least we might see some decent football

Absolutely agree - and sadly the laws of football tolerate this approach. Changes need to be made to ensure games last at least 60 minutes in play and teams have a limited number of times they can delay restarts without the referee's discretion. Wycombe's approach was a disgrace and shouldn't be allowed.

I think it's as you say a question of leadership driving the team forward but also knowing when to slow the game down and frustrate the opposition (within the laws of the game!).
