I’d Have DC back in an instant !!!! Still think he would of kept us up and fully deserved the chance to of done so. Even if we went down ( which I still think will happen ) there would of been no one better than DC to of brought us straight back up again. Like I’ve said previously, in my opinion we will regret sacking DC and it will really take affect once we’re back in the basement division, I see no chance of surviving this year and Saturdays showing was more proof that we are simply w**k again !!!!! Yes I know what you mean okebourne. My heart tells me he may be back but my head says probably not. Because it’s such a results business I can understand why he went. I also would have given him more time and think he would have pulled it around but that rarely happens and a 0-4 home defeat to a mid table side usually seals your fate. UTG!

The worrying bit about that last bit is I think we have been worse than that 4-0 in many home games since. Wycombe, Shrewsbury and Sunderland definitely and maybe Burton off the top of my head!

I agree. Now unless something happens drastically, I'm also happy to give GC a chance next season. He hasn't won me over, far from it, but I think the bloke deserves the chance to show what he can do with his own squad, we've seen some flashes of what we could do & he seems an honest, decent bloke. I understand why it was the right time for him to go, GC has bought in more points since his appointment than I think DC would have done, indeed we would be cut adrift by now I think, but I cannot understand the board giving GC a 21/2 year deal, why not to the end of the season, then review where ALL options are on the table, including getting DC back. He probably realised he was in the spotlight had won 3 in a row and other clubs were watching maybe had even made him an offer. Msybe he called their bluff and said he wanted a 2 year deal otherwise the offer was off the table. Who knows , I wanted him until the end of the season. I still think he was a good appointment for this season to be fair he’s done alright and won more than he’s lost , 2.5 years ? Always a dodgey one because if we go down they’ll have to pay him a fair Wack to get rid , probably , but then we don’t know the details of the contract so that side is all guess work.

Since the start of the year 8 games 8points 1 win..... And the home performances bar peterborough 1st half have been shocking. If we fail to win saturday then wheres the real improvement?

f**k me, has someone actually died? We lost to a team with pretty much a championship squad, we played well against Portsmouth, should’ve won. Get a grip!!

We didn’t have a Dam shot on target in 90 mins !!! As for Sunderland having “pretty much a championship squad” they were awful and diddnt have to get out of second gear which makes our performance even more shocking , we played well ? What game were you watching ? It was utter bollox , almost as if our players accepted defeat , especially when we went one down

With GC he’s inherited signings like upson/nichols/Bennett/Craig etc and the pot was empty so he’s done ok with the cards he was dealt with..all our previous consistent players had been sold, I think it’s going to take us another 2 seasons to get rid of the deadwood and bring in some quality, We all kept going on saying we needed to sign league one proven players but we’re never be able to do so in our finiancial circumstances so i’d Rather have league 2 on form players that’s on the up rather than league 1 on the way down And for DC coming back, no thanks..great for us but he’s a league 2 manager

This. At a guess, he would have moved Payne on but not Bennett. Which would be logical as then we'd have a left winger. I do understand why he was sacked but the point remains that if we are in League 2 next season, Darrell Clarke is exactly the sort of manager we would (or at least, should) look to appoint. He'd earned the right, for me. However, whatever the rights and wrongs of his departure, it ain't gonna happen and we have to look forward now. Whether that is with Graham Coughlan though probably depends upon what division we find ourselves in next season. I agree. Now unless something happens drastically, I'm also happy to give GC a chance next season. He hasn't won me over, far from it, but I think the bloke deserves the chance to show what he can do with his own squad, we've seen some flashes of what we could do & he seems an honest, decent bloke. Agree with this totally ... GC needs to be given a chance with his own hand picked players. For all the romantics on here wishing a DC return .... he was way passed his sell by date sadly and hung up on ridiculous tactics learnt from his summer studies from the huge investment the club had made in him helping with his FIFA licenses. We did not have or will likely ever have players with the ability and wider skills to utilise the tactics he had gleaned from his FIFA fantasy learnings. Lovely man and my favourite Rovers manager by far ... was just time to part the ways.

My opinion will be found in the previous D.c thread but that opinion is stronger now than the day he was sacked/removed. He’d be hungrier now that he’s reflected. And our performances were amazing under d.c. Just couldn’t score. Now look what we have had to watch at home since. Happy now d.c outers, Tw@ts.

I love DC, he’s a legend in my eyes, but don’t forget how poor we were in the first part of the season, it wasn’t any better than it is now.

DC didn't go purely for footballing reasons. He outed the board publicly for a failure to progress the infrastructure at the club. His position became untenable after that. If he hadn't spoken out about that I think he might have been given more time. Too late now, there's no point looking backwards.

Amazing might be OTT, but it wasn’t as bad at home than it is now. We were unlucky to lose, now we don’t deserve anything performance wise.
