I used to have a Midget and Ive also had a BGT.
Loved the B in particular. Real dream come true when I got that.
Sadly, kids and family put paid to my classic car dreams.

As for the Stag, unreliable. Many Stag owners put the Rover v8 engine in and they were bomb proof and ultra reliable....Never owned a stag but did own a Dolomite Sprint which was a lovely quick car but blighted with head gasket problems.

The A series was so easy to work on.
Rebuilt a couple from the head up and obviously the twin SUs.
I had the B first but it was rotten as a dead horses tooth unfortunately.
The Midget was fun but had to go when Hugo the Younger came along.
I liked the look of the Stag, but my dream has always been a TR4a but I won't ever be able to afford such luxury!
Haven't given up on the dream of another B though.

Most of them came with that V8 anyway but they did upgrade the radiator as they overheated like a bugger.

Many had the 2.5 tc engine and the head gaskets kept going....I think you are right they then put the Rover v8 in as standard.Beautiful cars that still turn my head when one goes by...My dolly Sprint is still on the road,a guy in Surrey eventually had it and restored it.Was chuffed to bits to see it in the magazine practical classics about 10 years ago.

My Mother always, always wanted one, or a sports car of any sort back in the day (1978 ish?) So my Father took her to look at a few, decided it was slightly on the large side so he bought her a Spitfire instead. She loved that.

I liked the spitfire but they had a design flaw that made them rot especially round the back window. That's why I went for the B. Spitfire was nicer to look at though.

Contrary to what all the purists think, I liked the look of the 1970s rubber bumpers on the MGB.
Apart from the bit around the lights, where it looked like every expense had been spared in getting them to fit neatly.

Um, the Spifire was a convertible so nothing to rot around the rear window. The rest of it rotted like a pair of my old pants.

Until I raced something down the M32 and put a con rod through the block. Fortunately, they shared the same 1.8 engine as things like Morris etc so straight swap.

What are you driving now? Bet it has a stripe and a gurt big air filter to make it sound nasty and false exhausts. Is it a Twingo convertible?
