Interesting that our midfielders keep scoring low out of tens since we’ve been playing this formation yet we’re doing so well in it. I suppose with a screen of three defensive midfielders their creativity is cut and they’re not likely to score high. I’m surprised Sercs hasn’t been doing better though . All season we were saying he’s been below average because he was played out wide and needs to be played as an attacking midfielder but he just hasn’t clicked wherever he’s played compared to last season. It’s almost as if Cogs has built this formation around him by giving him a free role to do what he does best too. But again we’ve been picking up points so it’s worked. Winning and drawing ugly that’ll do.
Some on radio Bristol after the game saying Cogs will keep us up but still needs to be replaced , unbelievable really. If when he took over had been the beginning of the season we’d be top six now.

I’m guessing that’s on the basis that his football isn’t entertaining enough? Despite the fact that if there were a league table since he took over we’d be in the top 6. Unbelievable really. I guess some people are never happy. I don’t envy managers in today’s game in that sense.

Yes i heard the comment on Twentyman that GC was not the man to take us forward!could not believe what i was hearing!,give the man some credit for goodness sake! his record played out over a season would surely have us in the top six , i dont get it ,crazy comment!!think he was in minority of 1!!

Absolutely. I've been critical of the decision to let Bennett go and can't say I particularly enjoy watching us play hoofball (as we undeniably do at times). However, if GC keeps us up, and I firmly believe he will, then he deserves nothing but praise and will have completely earned the right to take us forward. To suggest otherwise is surely ridiculous.

Bennett scored for Swindon today. Hopefully he'll come back to us energised and when we're not having to grind out results to beat the drop, he will still have something to offer.

Watched all home and Gills and Pompey away since GC took over and I'd say we play it more on the floor than the first part of the season.

Watched all home and Gills and Pompey away since GC took over and I'd say we play it more on the floor than the first part of the season. I disagree. I think the football we play is long ball. We have been all season, to be fair, even under DC, which is for me a big reason why things started to go wrong this season. It's odd, as last season we played some lovely flowing football. Think back to passing Wigan off the park. Maybe Lines' lack of form this season and subsequent loss of his place is a factor? There's certainly no other passing, playmaker type midfielder in the squad. I think the big difference though is that Coughlan has got the players in to be able to play this style. Or, more to the point, he bought Clarke-Harris, who competes superbly and robustly up front. Darrell Clarke had Payne, who was 6'3" but jumped like he was 3'6". There's nothing wrong with the long ball game when you have the players to make it work, as we have now. Whether it can progress us longer term remains to be seen, but I absolutely think that Coughlan, if he keeps us up, fully deserves the chance to try. I just hope, from a purely personal preference, that he introduces a more pleasing on the eye style over time.

Bonham 6 No chance with goals
J. Clarke 5 Delivered the cross for equaliser, Otherwise defended ok, going forward not so good, gave the ball away far to much. Kilgour 6 Reasonable debut in a pressure game, definitely one for the near future. Craig 5 Crazy o/g and probably missed the captain today. Holmes-Dennis 5 Thought he was lazy at times or not fit?, but his quality still showed, however he was a bit off the mark in this game.
Upson 5 Good at times, gave the ball away to many times O. Clarke 5 Same as Upson, although a good cross for Nichols chance. Ogogo 5 Not one of his better games but still got his foot in when it mattered Sercombe 4 Ran around a lot without getting anywhere.
Nichols 4 Poor game, albeit his F/H chance looked over the line from where I was sat, but it was tight decision with their keeper making a good save. Clarke-Harris 6.5 A Lambert in the making, another wonderful goal, hope we got him on a good long contract MoM just for his goal, worth the admission price just to see it.
Subs: Jakubiak 5 Not much of a impression Reilly 6 Not a fan of his, but a well taken goal, and made a good contribution.
Crowd 6 Backed the team throughout the game.
Ref 7 Good game, quite lenient by letting game flow, with some odd decisions for both teams when another ref would have gave a lot of free kicks.
Plymouth 6 Much the same as us and not much between the two sides I thought with better support from our midfield we might have got an even better result.

JCH has a left peg like a hammer. Yesterday's strike was reminiscent of his goal for us (Rotherham) against Leeds in the Championship a few years back. Glad he's doing so well for you.

Harrison is the only player other than Lockyer to have more than 15 MotMs and as many of those were achieved in is final season, Lockyer got his at a quicker rate. The starting XI average was 6.39 Bonham 6.4 J. Clarke 6.5 Craig 6.1 Kilgour 7.1 Holmes-Dennis 6.6 Upson 6.7 O. Clarke 6.1 Ogogo 6.2 Sercombe 5.4 Nichols 5.4 Clarke-Harris 7.7
