If you were the owner of a football club where club was in with a chance of relagation would you take a chance to bet on that football club getting relegated by putting a large sum of money on the club going down with the odds of 250 200 or 150 to one to cut your losses on your investment or building a new stadium training ground and a big I investment in the playing staff

That is quite some HYPOTHETICAL situation you have come up with there and one that would be illegal I imagine.
No football club owner would ever do that.

Peterborough’s chairman Barry Fry did something similar last year by betting on Jack Marriot to finish L1 top scorer so that he could pay his bonus if he did. Ended up facing a disciplinary hearing and was fined £35,000 as well as facing a one month ban from all football related activities

No, it is illegal. Simple. Fortunately, so far, we might have had owners who we disagreed with but they have not done something as reprehensible as that. Other clubs may not have been so lucky! I’m sure you don’t think it would be acceptable, at least I hope you don’t. Some things are more valuable than money. UTG!

Also, we have been very fortunate in having leaders who recognised that they have a wider responsibility than just football. Bert Tann played a large part in exposing the bribes scandal of the early 60s when as soon as he knew about Millions and Williams’s illegal action notified the authorities straightaway. Rovers could have been in trouble and our reputation trounced but his swift action ensured our good name didn’t suffer when it might have done. That’s what I would expect, not someone trying to earn a few quid. UTG!

Nothing stopping the supporters club or a group of supporters sticking a load on though and buying the club if we get relegated!

Judging by the amount of fans who said they have had a bet you can all club together and buy The Al-Qadi's out anyway

Interesting how Prem players, and Barry Fry get a fine and a month or so suspension. The last Frome Town manager got 3 years suspension and a 5k fine

The last Frome Town manager got 3 years suspension and a 5k fine Bit different placing random bets and betting on your team to win, and betting on your team to lose. One is abusing your position and knowledge, but the other is tantamount to match-fixing.

The last Frome Town manager got 3 years suspension and a 5k fine Sounds like he deserved all he got for betting so often on his own teams: "An independent commission found that from September 2014 to April 2016 Bunyard placed 45 bets against Frome and his former club Paulton Rovers."
