No, GT asked him specifically, based on what DC had been saying & he agreed, saying it will be cut - either in or over the next 12 months. No idea how to get a link, happy to be proved wrong, but I am 99% sure it was at that interview. Given we had 29 players when GC took over the club, if it's now reduced to 24 players that be a cut in budget but not necessarily quality. GC's comments about not expecting a good as season this one (where we finished 8th in his table) make you wonder what the aim is, just a mid table finish? Came across as classic, "give me some time to sort through the sh**. Slowly turn things around and then look to progress" expect an average season.... but who knows...

Well that certainly hasn’t ruled out the Plymouth job. It hasn't. The 'uncomfortable with being in the limelight' thing would have sounded a lot more genuine if it had been immediately followed with a statement that knocked the story on the head and categorically took the limelight off of him. Not convincing at all.
What really struck me was how at odds it seemed with the rest of the interview, where he sounded pretty committed to the job in hand. When it comes to the question many of us were asking, I don't really feel that much wiser. Mostly it felt like he was saying 'Look how dynamic I can be! When it comes to making the changes that matter then I'm the man for the job! Just don't tell anyone that I'd rather not be doing it here...'

And I quote. "He has not been contacted about the job, the club has not been contacted and it is like the majority of stuff out there, pure speculation". Pure speculation just like the majority of your post.

No thanks I sound like a farmer. exactly. Never been keen on the West Country accent but more than happy to take jokes about it - I think accents are still in bounds for a joke and yet to be classed as a hate crime (yet!).

Wants to play a high-pressing, high tempo style of football with pace on the wings and lots of crosses.
That’s the bit that pleased me the most, tbh!

Agree provided we have defenders and midfielders able to pass a ball out to the wingers, who in turn have the ability to put in a good cross and then strikers/attacking mids good enough to stick the ball in the onion bag. Whatever formation or style is chosen success will be down to the quality of recruitment.

Absolutely. Having a bit more pace at centre half will help too, we play too deep and being able to press higher up the pitch will naturally see us playing more in the opposition half. There are some quality players out of contract and hopefully we can get a few in early.

Can't see any money for Leon Clark while still paying Payne.

Thanks to everybody for the summaries - I was asleep! Sounds promising, especially re. the style of football he is aiming for.
Will listen on i-player at some point, as I do love the Oirish accent (my dear old Dad was from Dublin).

I don’t think GC could have said any more about the argyle job. No approach either way and no foundation. There’s nothing to deny

Thought he sounded like he has the plans already for next season and his wish list hope we don't get ourselves in a James Constable situation again where we wait too long, they re either in or out. Sounds like the Plymouth centre half might be a target, and maybe sheff Utd released ones. I'm sure he ain't going to Plymouth based on that interview.

That player is Leon Clarke. Would be a terrific signing in my opinion. Clarke and Clarke-Harris would be a very good partnership.

Wonder what staff are getting the chop then? hopefully Naylor. Bloke is stealing a living not doing an awful lot other than rolling balls to the keepers

hopefully Naylor. Bloke is stealing a living not doing an awful lot other than rolling balls to the keepers Presuming that's a joke? do you watch what he does before the start of games every time the same thing not challenging them in the slightest. And from what I’ve heard he himself knows he’s stealing a living and boasts about it
