Walsall have less potential than we do despite the fact we are owned by a family that don’t give a f**k. I think he could have done better than this for his next job. I hope he hasn’t taken it just for the money.

Good luck to DC. Club legend still. And I 100% believe Sinclair and Lines will be at least offered deals by Wallsall. It's a bit of journey for both from Bristol/Wiltshire, it's got to be a minimum of a 4 hour round trip during the week I thought they both lived in Bristol? Car share, and footballers don't have to commute both ways in rush hour like us mere mortals.

I have my doubts as to whether DC will have any great success at Walsall. It's true that he is at his level in league 2, so I fail to see the mass erections on the Walsall forum regarding his coaching badges. It seems to me that once he got those the Rovers performances worsened noticeably, remember how the relegated Walsall beat us 1-0 at the Mem in September? He likes to play to the crowd, already describing the Walsall fans as fantastic. Yeah, all 3500 of them. They quickly turned on their last manager, Dean Keates, who was a playing legend with them. I fear that if he fails to hit the ground running they will soon turn on him, badges and all. Still, I thank him for the good times, and wish him well. People have a laugh at say walsall's 3,500 gates but plenty of clubs can have a good laugh at our 8,300 crowds. Dc had one good season and an average one in league one before it all went pear shaped. Do they not count?

Feels a bit like finding out an ex that you’re still in love with has found someone new.
Best of luck DC.

Yes, but that's club with 12,000/15,000+ not 3,500, it really is a strange move by DC, rant about our owners lack of progress with the stadium etc then join a smaller club notorious for having an owner with zero ambition.

Unless you’re Neil Warnock you can’t sit around forever in managerial terms.
He didn’t seem to be a serious contender for many jobs recently so there will be an element of reputation rebuilding on his part, so he’s gone backwards to go forwards and I doubt he sees Walsall as a long term appointment provided everything goes well. With two promotions already on his CV I reckon having Walsall up there at the end of the season will make him very attractive to league one clubs and then he will be able to move forwards.

Good Luck DC!!! “I can’t wait to get started,” said Clarke after agreeing terms on a three-year contract here at the Banks’s Stadium. “I have spoken with members of the Board on a number of occasions and this is a project I am really looking forward to. “I am excited by the challenge that lies ahead. This is a great club and I can’t wait to get my teeth into the task at hand. “The club have had a couple of disappointing seasons and we now find ourselves in League Two. I want to give these brilliant fans something to shout about, put a smile on their faces and give them a team that will give their all for the club and the badge. “I like my teams to be on the front foot and play attractive, attacking football with the ability to adapt to different scenarios. "I know all about the division we are in, I’ve had success at League Two level before and I want to bring the good times back. I will work tirelessly to achieve our shared goals.” 😭😭😭😭

Another 3 years contract apparently so he won't be leaving there in a hurry. Not sure get promoted from Div 2 will make him attractive to top 10 Div 1 sides.

I suppose DC thought he'd better get back onto the merry-go-round because it's very easy to become a forgotten man in football management. I doubt he will be on as much money as he was with us, but as someone else has said, DC is no doubt hoping he will have some success and get head-hunted by a bigger club? In the mean time he can always sign Shrewsbury Town's cast-offs!

I hope he hasn’t taken it just for the money. My guess would be that DC will show a little less loyalty in this job and jump at the chance to join a bigger club if one comes in for him. He probably feels that if he can put another football league promotion on his CV by bringing Walsall back into L1, a bigger L1 or Championship club will approach him.

It seems a sensible move to me.
Walsall are probably punching a little below their weight in League 2 and would be seen as having a chance of getting out of that league. Another promotion, if he can pull it off, and he can boast five in what, nine or ten seasons as a manager? That's a record that plenty of clubs would be interested in.
I think we shouldn't be too quick to belittle Walsall either. I've not checked this but think they've been in the Championship a hell of a lot more recently than us. Good club and I'd love and expect to see him do well there.

I believe Walsall are very well run, with a nice stadium and financially sound. They will support him financially within a sensible budget. He might not get 300k to spend on a striker but then again he won’t be promised it either

I wonder if any of their players are regretting banging on our managers door after a jammy win at the Mem earlier in the season
