Signing him in the Conference days proved to be the boost that would take us up that year. In fact a lot of the good things that have happened to this football club in the last 15 years can be associated with him, will be sad to see him go. Good luck at Northampton linesy, you’ll be missed.

I have this totally impossible dream that Lines and O'Toole together would be a creative, skilful, entertaining and indeed groundbreaking midfield partnership for us. Oh well. I think they would make an amazing partnership - but . As you say ... oh well . Not to be . Utg .

I wouldn't trust either of them if I was a manager.

I would kill to have 2 midfield players whom pass the ball to their own players at rovers. If their central midfield is o'toole and lines its very likely to be better than ours imo. Against many of the teams in this division; you often need more than talent to win the midfield battle. A combination of hard tackling and the ability to find your own players is almost a prerequisite these days.
Liverpool had a midfield much the same and at times over-ran the tippy-tappy Barcelona one, if anything imo the forth division will be even harder to play in UTG
I’d be quite happy to have 3 of the Sercs , ogogo , Clarke , upson in the diamond next season with a really good playmaker in there as well. The kind of player who always seems to have that extra second on the ball to look up, see what’s on and find that run with a clever pass. If we had that it would encourage the full backs to make those runs because they’d be confident they’d be found. I think the reason we didn’t really see our fullbacks make those runs much in last few months is because they knew it would go long and central. A midfield diamond gives the opportunity to have for example : 1 ball winner player in front of the back four 2 box to box players who can get stuck in but get forward too and score 5-10 a season. 1 playmaker who is the main creative player who finds the full backs runs and plays through balls for them and other runners from midfield and the strikers. We did well with Cogs very defensive midfield and stayed up , just , but that wasn’t because we created enough chances it was because JCH scored an unimaginable amount of goals from out of nowhere.

Yes. Good luck Chris Lines. Great player for us and now he’s gone hope he does well. But pretty sure CL and JJOT never here at same time. UTG! Yes warehamgas gas , I know that . But both connected to rovers and seemed friendly , so that’s what I meant by reunion , utg. Fair enough. Perhaps they can have a good moan together!😀 UTG!

I have an interesting take on this GIVEN some fans assumptions on CL ability.
CL believes he was good enough to start for BRFC and he would still be here if Darrell Clarke was. Therefore believes he was a L1 standard player.
It therefore begs the question if the above is taken as a constant why he isn’t joining up with DC at Walsall.
I raise this on three fronts.
1. Walsall is nearer than Northampton 2. Walsall you would assume are a better bet for promotion as northampton are mediocre 3. The supposed relationship with DC
Mind you I think he is overrated anyway and probably play no more than half a season before fans realise he is a luxury they can do without

Probably didn’t offer enough.

IMO Coughlan should have manned up, been the bigger person, and worked it through with Linsey, ffs Linsey is a much better player than Upson and one of our own, l would have rather Coughlan had gone than Linsey. Coughlan is trying to be too clever, waiting for Plymouth to offer him their managers job, and staying with BRFC if he is not successful.P*** take.

CL is moving DOWN to the level he can now cope with (maybe) And across country. For less money (very probably) He seems to be able to accept reality better than so many on here.

Our upturn in form seemed to coincide with Lines being left out. I like him a lot but I think he's had his day in L1. Hence why no other L1 club went for him.
