Seriously what happened with Rodman under GC? Just as he started getting minutes (and a couple of goals) he couldn’t “keep the shirt”. Give him a run against Barnsley and he slots two. Surely he deserves more of a look in? I suppose with the arrival of Ogogo it became that much more competitive to get a run?

So GC said he'd like to get 4 or 5 new players in as starters next season. I'd be over the moon if he gets 5 new starters . I think we all agree the 5 positions so who would you like that player to be (only 1 or 2 player suggestions please and realistic ones.
Gk. Bonham, RB : grimmer (Cov) CB: Davies (Coventry) although would like taller player LM: Carey (plymouth) CF: Ladapo, (Plymouth)

If we go into next season with Clarke, Upson, Ogogo & Sercombe as our CMs I think we’re going to badly lack creativity in that area of the team. But it wouldn’t surprise me if GC will be happy to play a couple of battlers in there. Would like to see us go for Amond (ST) from Newport if they stay down. Also wouldn’t mind us going in for Sweeney at Mansfield. He looks much leaner than when he was last here and is comfortable bringing the ball out from the back.

I haven't so don't know if he's any good or not but it does seem that we sometimes rate young players without knowing what their weaknesses are. I see what you're doing here and might disagree on one or two, but to be fair it does show the massive job Coughlan has given himself after his cull. Two goalies, a centre half, a right back, a midfielder who can create, at least one wide player and a striker. That's seven or eight first teamers. When added to the signings of JCH and Ogogo, the bulk of next season's team will be Coughlan's and he will be judged on it accordingly.

Hardly a cull releasing Sincs & Lines more like just doing what was anticipated, given they've hardly played since GC took over replacing those two shouldn't be that bigger task for GC.
Moore, Rollin, Kilgour, Russe and Hargreaves are all in the same category, potential 1st team players or they could just all spend another season in the Development Squad.

Maybe "cull" is the wrong word, but to Lines and Sincs we can add Leadbitter and probably Bennett, Matthews and (hopefully) Payne. Add to that Bonham and Jakubiak returning to their clubs and Lockyer's departure, the point I'm trying to make is that he has a big job in bringing in enough players to fill these gaps. Some of that, albeit not all of it, is his own making. If, for example, he fails to bring in any creativity or decent wide options, he will be criticised for the decisions he has made already.

I think you’ll be right with that - can see GC favouring battlers and ball winners in the middle and looking to the wings (and fullbacks?) for creativity and assists.

The squad is pretty full and with payne and bennett back i would imagine the budget is used up. So all good and ready to go.

Mf Templeton (Burton) St Sims on loan from Southampton or Wheeler on loan from QPR now he's back from MKD (doubt we can buy anyone good enough to be a starter up front). Neither are out and out strikers, more like attacking midfielders but think either could do a job alongside or just behind JCH.

I think we missed the boat with Sweeney, should have signed him for free when we had the chance, he had gone off the boil a bit but was still 19 or 20 and we had seen enough potential to have offered him a deal.

He's made the decisions so now he needs to deliver, if he can and the players he brings in are improvements then we could make the step up to be top 10 contenders. Although it could all just be a cost cutting exercise!

Won’t happen as I think too much has gone on but I’d love to have seen us get a motivated Payne and pair him with JCH running at those League 1 centre backs, terrifying! I agree.I remember his first goal at home for us I thought he was a decent player.I would try to off load him, but if not I would let him have a clean start here under GC. As much as I love DC towards the end of his time here he couldnt get the best out of players.GC some how took an awlful attacking side to safety after looking like we were doomed before. Like I say, With Payne try to move on but if not, give him a fair 2nd chance. I think it’s the fans he’s had most anger with. I just can’t see him thriving in a GC team. Just my opinion, of course

Payne should never wear the shirt again in my opinion. Shocking player with no commitment.
Anyway, JCH needs a smaller, fox in the box alongside him, not a target man.
