How are we equal to last season? We've lost Lockyer and replaced him with Davies who whilst talented, has played less than 30 games at league one level. I think a lot on here are under estimating the impact Lockyer leaving will have. A huge loss IMO, I fear if we prove weaker in defence this year and no sign of any goal scorers or creativity coming it could be a long hard seasonš I don't think we will miss his ability to NOT make a pass of 10 yards

For some obscure reason to me they are not prepared to give a man a chance after he sorted out the mess that their hero had created. I for one am prepared to give him a fair crack of the whip this coming season and will judge his signings on their performances on the pitch not on the opinions of former clubs fans on twitter etc etc.

I'd be surprised if Scales does go on to sign now, 4 new defenders in so far making it 9 in total at the club? Unless we are looking at loaning 1 or 2 out?..

Personally I disagree. I think weāre equally at last seasons level, but with another year of development forKilgour & Rollin. I reckon this will be Kilgours break through season How are we equal to last season? We've lost Lockyer and replaced him with Davies who whilst talented, has played less than 30 games at league one level. Well I just said.. Overall with the improvement I think we're similar to last season. Let's not pretend TL has 500 caps at L1 level, less than 100 himself FWIW. Anyway, that's another conversation

I'm out at the moment so can't check but am surprised that our no.1 CB for our 3 seasons in League one has played less than 100 games in that time. I'd have guessed around 120 taking into account time missed for international duty, suspension etc.

We are still about three or four attackers short! GC has done a great job so far with defenders but it is going to still take some creative players in midfield both wide and central and strikers to change our fortunes. We really need a Ched Evans type striker or its going to be a tough old season. There is plenty of time to make these key signings but preferably before our home friendlies. I still have faith in GC to make some marquee signings....

I think we will see Kilgour and Rollin go out on loan and possibly CraIg leave before the window shuts. With Kelly and THD injured we are down to 5 regulars so Scales is still a possible signing IMO.

I can't see anyway whatsoever that Craig will leave. Why would GC allow our best defender to go? TC will be first defender on his teamsheet and rightly so.

Surely it makes sense for Rollin and Kilgour to go to League 2 clubs on loan for next 12 months. Both have potential but could do with a full season of football league under their belts before being thrown in at deep end. Lots of local clubs they could head to while we keep an eye on them...Forest Green, Newport, Cheltenham, Swindon.

Personally, I'd like to see Kilgour given a first team chance, possibly as part of a back 3 with Leahy and Little as wing backs.
Like others, I can't see GC wanting Craig to leave unless there are other reasons.

In an ideal world yes, but that would leave us with Craig, Davies and potentially Scales to play 46 games between the three of them. One injury and suddenly the position is a real concern. If Scales joins then it wouldn't shock me if Rollin went out on loan.

The liam scales situation is quite interesting. I only think he will come to rovers if he is offered a starting place in the team and which would leave craig out in the cold. I like craig but still hope we sign scales.

I reckon GC is a back four man but maybe not?

Its a system that only works if you have the wing backs to make it work and we have a few players in Little/Hare/Leahy that could do a good job in the role.

As has been regularly stated on here, defenders and defensively minded players seem easier for us to acquire than attackers and creators...so it makes sense to adopt a system that employs at least five of them!
