People need to get away from the fact it is "Only" a football stadium but could well be a sports complex with multiple uses like athletics etc Hopefully not athletics! Hope far away from the pitch would the fans be?? Atmosphere would be awful. I agree, not a fan of West Ham’s new stadium where the fans are situated a good distance from the pitch. If we do move into a new ground one day, I hope the stands are steep and closer to the action so the atmosphere will be a lot more imposing and the fans will feel connected to the players on the pitch.

I mainly agree, but Eastville's stands were miles from the pitch yet there was a good atmosphere generated there. At least I think there was. It's a long time ago and perhaps I'm just remembering the electric League Cup matches in the early 70s. Ordinary league games were of course much quieter. Maybe it's all down to the fans and not the stands. If they sing, you will hear them.

The Fruit Basket/New Stadium is deceased, it is no more , it’s ceased to exist, it’s a dead parrot 🦜

It's gutting to think this time next year they could be playing in a decent looking stadium whilst we still worry about whether one of our tents might blow away in a storm!

It will be a lot better than the mem. Still smaller than the mem though, holding only 9000 at first. They can extend it if needed though.

Only one side is permanent, all the rest are temporary with supporting pillars but can be built permanently in the future if they wish to do so and extend capacity. Glad the dons are back in their rightful place again, their new stadium will cap off a remarkable comeback story. Just wish we could go ahead and write our own success story now.

Makes you weep when you look at Swansea and Cardiff and how they've moved onwards and upwards since the days of being our rivals.
And then weep a bit more when you see Brentford and AFC Wimbledon also at it nowadays.
Neither of those, especially the Dons, are conventionally rich clubs. They have rich owners.
But so do we, FFS!!!
What a shambles the last 4 years have been.
Time for another weep.

Yes but let’s balance this sobbing with a reminder that new stadia were also in place for Chesterfield, Barnet and Darlington who went the other way...and redeveloping an existing dilapidated one didn’t make Notts County kick on either. Yes we all want better facilities than we’ve got but don’t think that’s a golden ticket to the top tables.

Yes we all want better facilities than we’ve got but don’t think that’s a golden ticket to the top tables. You’re right, it certainly isn’t a golden ticket. But it has helped teams much more than hindered them. Barnet wasn’t really a case of new stadium, they were kicked out of Underhill I believe? Besides, that was in the NL that happened I think and are still there, so not sure it went the other way? Darlington, absolutely. But wasn’t the owner in prison? On top of that their fan base was like 3,000 and they weren’t allowed more than 9,000 in the stadium? Chesterfield is indeed a strange one. I know they’ve had some truly dodgy owners, which I believe is at fault rather than the stadium, but I don’t know enough to comment. I really thought they’d kick on tbh. Notts County, again I don’t know enough. Although my understanding was more due to the conmen owners they have come in? Didn’t they sign Sol Campbell for like 20k a week, and it turned out they actually had no money?

While getting new facilities is no guarantee for the golden ticket, you can rest assure that if we do nothing then the club will die.

Why do posters, who assume know something about football, keep referring to Darlington when it's a well known fact their stadium was built on the proceeds of crime, anybody with any common sense can see their new stadium was never viable.

But so do we, FFS!!! What a shambles the last 4 years have been. Time for another weep. Thats a very interesting point. After the Man City CL ban I was at work and got reading in one of the newspapers a article about the Prem and championship club wages/ Net spending against each clubs owners wealth. What was interesting is that Delia Smith at Norwich wealth is said to be around £23million and Sheff Utd's Owner is about £180 million, while both Watfords and Burnleys were both under the £100million mark. Thats four premiership clubs that have owners who's wealth is far lower than our owners reported £500 million plus in Jordan. Ok, I understand that all these clubs have had the infrastructure in place for years that we dont, as well as having premiership money, but its still a point to be made that they dont have money bag owners throwing cash around, but all are clubs on a different level to us in every area of our club. You are right to point out what a shambles the last 4 years have been since Wael got a hard on from being carried down Glos rd like some kinda god, when he did nothing to deserve it, as was riding the wave of another promotion that DC made happen! I think Wael convinced his family to buy us as we were from a Major UK city with a big fanbase, with huge potenial for growth. We had a deal in place for the UWE, and a great manager and team that was on the verge of another promotion. It was a good sell. They throught that they could come in and invest very little to get us there, and then recoup any money that they did invest/and make a huge profit down the line once we got into the UWE and were playing Championship or Premiership football if things had went well. The UWE went tits up,they now want out...and have put everything that they invested into the club against the value of the Mem. They are no doubt looking to sell and are half heartly looking for a new stadium if one lands perfectly in there laps. But given the silence from the club at times you can tell that they dont have a clue, or the heart of how to move us forward and are just looking to save guard there investment in us until they find a buyer to give them back what they put in.

I’d agree with a lot of that. Also add in the complicating factor of people previously involved in the club coming up with fantasy projects they have no prospect of financing or seeing through without bringing the club to its knees. Wael must be frustrated by the time he’s wasted listening to this these plans and rumours. All the time wasted since moving to the Mem has to come to an end now and we must find a way of moving forward with the assets we do have.

It says it will hold 9000, which ties in with what it says on the AFC website. Maybe it's changed, or they have it wrong.
