You don't know that. Neither does anyone else. I would say if we did it would have happened by now. I'm sure if we had the money and the investors the UWE would have happened It wouldn't if the UWE were demanding a % which meant it wasn't viable? Everything is not down to just being able to finance a stadium it's also got to be viable in the long term.

Reading through what has been explained on the FM site it does raise a question with me. The FM site would have been a lease with some sharing of revenue. I don't see how that would have been any different to what we would have been signing up to with the UWE. When it comes down to it I just don't think we have the finance or investors for a new stadium. The difference might have been that we got a bigger share of the revenue? I doubt any lower league club has the finance or investors for a new stadium which would meet our needs? Perhaps getting to the Championship might bring investors on board but we're now looking as far from that as we've been. Yes, it's a chicken and egg situation. We need the stadium/finance to get to the championship but no one is going to invest in us until we look like a prospect that can attain and maintain championship football. The only hope is there is someone mad enough that can be convinced to shell out £50M on a stadium and be willing to accept they won't see a penny of it back. we all need to keep doing the Euro millions.

What have BCC ever done to stop BRFC? They have approved every planning application we have ever submitted including the full rebuild of The Mem. On this occasion it looks as though developers and BRFC failed to reach an agreement. They did at one stage announce there were no suitable sites in Bristol to build a stadium. That was many years back. Its true though...no new stadium has been built since that announcement. You are correct and at the same time they stated that they would assist both clubs to redevelop their own stadia. They went on to grant full consent to redevelop both Ahton Gate and The Memorial Stadium.

Everything is not down to just being able to finance a stadium it's also got to be viable in the long term. Everything comes down to money and how much you're willing to spend. I'm sure if the guys who took over Man City took us over they would have used all the finance clout they had to make sure the UWE was built on our terms. The UWE would have had their price.

I think that there was a change of heart or hearts.

We wouldn't have owned the land or the stadium.

My point is if we had enough money it would have happened. There would have been a price for buying the land from the UWE, regardless of whatever the deal was.

There would have been a price for buying the land from the UWE, regardless of whatever the deal was. I don't think the UWE could just sell the land due to the deal when they purchased it cheaply from Hewlett-Packard. If they could then no doubt they'd have already sold it for housing.

Chris Brown has put on Facebook that Conygar are no longer interested in building a stadium at FM site. Not too unhappy as always felt it is a rubbish location to get to. South Gloucestershire council are Pro us, there must be a bit of land available that we can use. We need plenty of parking, and let the fans drink in a stadium bar to maximise revenue. Chris Brown has not said that and has said "Just a conclusion he has come too after reading Bristol post report". Exactly, it’s just his conclusion, I’ve read the article a few times & whilst it does seem problematic I still wouldn’t dismiss the FM as a non-starter. Here’s the article for anyone who wants to read it- www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-rovers-uwe-fruit-market-8170092?fbclid=IwAR3Bgvwk-b5HNnPVEVid8RKOsPKbR-GEdrdYjX_jiH60jIkwzR1bb-bMgAU

If it was so viable then why didn't Higgs & co not press on and build it themselves?

I think that was probably because they were running the club into the ground with expensive legal cases, high interest loans and watertight contracts

We always seem to be unlucky with the timing of our stadium projects. The Sainsburys saga came about largely by the financial crisis resulting from the 2008 crash. 2 or 3 years earlier with the deal and Sainburys wouldn't have hesitated. Following the financial crisis raw materials and costs went up. Fast forward to 2019 and the fruit market, we then have COVID and the knock on effect to finances and also massive price rises of materials and labour. In fact I think our stadium plans are a good indicator that a financial crisis is about to happen.

That was from one of the ex horses mouths.

I think that there was a change of heart or hearts. If they knew the situation when buying the club, why did they pay for feasibility study on the stadium after taking over?? Think Higgs and CO made it sound a lot better than it was to sell the club, after all they had taken out a high interest loan! Wael tried to buy Gillingham before us, so it wasn't a new stadium project, with good terms that sealed the deal! Think Wael rushed into buying us, as he wanted any club! Since I think he has grown very fond of the club and has invested a lot of money, but I think he would have bought any football League club at the time. The old board were desperate and would have signed a bad deal with Uwe, like they did with Sainsburys. Not sure why anyone trusts anything the old board says! Just from the plans and interviews you could see that they had given away way too much!

Think the company doing it, said they couldn't anymore. We don't seem to have any luck with stadium projects🤣
