According to Bristol Live its going to be a permanent structure, all this chopping and changing of stories, nothing new, apparently the 'pie in the sky' stand is going to be in place in under 20 weeks and no plans or drawings have been made public, don't hold your breath. Hopefully the clubs agents are talking to the planners as the last time permanent structures were applied for the council were adamant that they didn't want a piecemeal stadium on the site. The Old Vetch was used as an example of what a stadium shouldn't look like. Hopefully something positive happens but getting planning for one stand could be more difficult than an entire stadium. A further thought, if we are now looking at new permanent structures at The Mem does this mean redevelopment of The Mem is now the only option? Hopefully hedging their bets. Get this in place now then move to another new stand (North Terrace?) if things haven't progressed in say another 12 months. A rolling upgrade plan should the FM or ANOther be delayed or deferred. Certainly TG's original programme notes which first mentioned the new South Stand reiterated the need for a new ground so don't think it's necessarily a new site replacement (yet!).

FWIW, I think the fruit market is dead, for the moment at least. I have come to that conclusion after several ITK's said that we had been left out of the deal and within a week we get news that the club is planning a new South Stand that will be a permanent structure. It would be good to know what the clubs long term plans are so we can all get behind them and support the vast investment that Wael is making.

Everyone appears to be petrified to ask Wael what the hell is going with the stadium situation and progress. That's because he starts a conversation with, "Don't ask me about the new stadium."

Agree, I've heard conflicting info but the size, if that is the case, is a pretty big investment if we were to move out within 5 years. Based purely on a gut feel, I think the FM is either in abeyance or dead and Weal/TG are looking elsewhere with the new South Stand being either an interim project or Phase 1 of a redevelopment, depending on what they can organise.

Or perhaps Wael's just calling the FM developers bluff by suggesting they'll build a new stand at the Mem to try and force though a good deal, it's OK Bristol Live saying the developers have 5 different plans for the FM but if BCC will only give pp for one that includes a football stadium they may as well only have the one plan. Lets see if the club spend money on getting the 3D plans produced and, if they do, then incur more costs submitting a planning request.

There is obviously a few on here that know and see Wael a lot more than I do. Anyway, point is, we are yet to hear anything from him, so this leads me to believe nothing is going on...every other football club would be sharing this kind of news, but not ours.

onygar Bristol Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Conygar Investment Company PLC, has exchanged conditional contracts with the Wholesale Bristol Fruit Market for the land at St. Philips Marsh, where the market is currently located.
Bristol Rovers Football Club is supportive of this development and we welcome the news today of the contract exchange. The regeneration of St Philip’s Marsh represents a great opportunity for the region and the football club.
Bristol City Council and its partners, including West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and Homes England, consider St. Philip’s Marsh to be an exciting opportunity to develop a low-carbon place to live, work and spend time. The club shares the aspirations set out in the Bristol Temple Quarter Development Framework and looks forward to working with the Council and its partners to make these a reality.
Over the next few months, we will work with Conygar to play our part in creating a vision for the site that supports the needs of the city as well as ensuring that we protect the long-term interests of the football club.
Bristol Rovers Football Club has been a part of these discussions for the past two-and-a-half years and we will now work with Conygar to finalise the plans unlocking the potential of the site for the city and the football club.
Club President Wael Al Qadi said: “This announcement marks a big milestone in our journey for a new stadium. We have been in positive discussions with the team at Conygar for two-and-a-half years and we are delighted that they have now formally secured a deal for the site. We look forward to working with them to finalise our agreement, whilst maintaining the long-term future of Bristol Rovers Football Club.”
Greg Miller Cheevers, CEO of Conygar said: “St. Philip’s Marsh and the Fruit Market site hold exciting possibilities that could help to transform this area into something positive for the city. We have been in discussion with Bristol Rovers for a significant time. These discussions between Conygar and the club are meaningful and ongoing and I look forward to continuing to work with Wael and the club to finalise a solution that works for all parties.”
Conygar: regeneration track-record
Conygar holds substantial experience in multi-million-pound regeneration schemes. These schemes include Island Quarter in Nottingham City Centre – a mixed-use scheme for over three million square feet to include new homes, life sciences, grade A office space, creative market, a lifestyle hotel, retail units, student accommodation and associated public realm.

Still early days of course but perhaps we should have a separate thread where certain posters can publicly record their apologies?
