I'm naturally quite a pessimist, especially where Rovers are concerned, but I do wonder, if this is not at least 75% certain, why the club would produce a video like that plaster it over twitter, particularly given our track record of failing to get a new stadium built. There was no pressure on the club to make any kind of announcement, well no more than usual, and definitely not a high profile one like this, so I guess there must be something in this.

Guess that's my Father and I no longer watching Rovers. Live. Don't judge it until you've seen what provisions are made for getting people to the stadium, especially elderly and disabled. It might be better than you think. Of course it might not happen, but we'll have to wait and see.

Probably fast forward straight to phase 2 of the build as we will most likely be in the Prem by then.

This site will smash the absolute shyt out of Ashton gate. Right by the M32 and T meads. Next to paintworks. Sustainable development. Who would book Ashton gate when this is built (concerts, expos, events?)
Ashton gate will just end up being trade fairs for Somerset.
They will be seething down there. Expect lots of sabotage action. Probably including the owner too. They will not want to share this city with another compatible club. As evidenced by their cringeworthy billboards put everywhere desparately trying to paint it as a Famly club.

Of course, that might be possible in which case we're game on!!!

But where I'd remain the same on this case, is that the club also went public on all of the previous stadium ventures. There are more variables to this one than UWE or redeveloping the Mem afaics.

Are you serious? 😆 AG stadium has a full marketing and conference team that put events on there all of the time. I'd imagine many on this forum have been there for some reason or another so although its not amazing, it's pretty decent. They also have plans for the sporting quarter which brings other established bristol sports clubs in to the project. That is collateral that we simply don't have, not ignoring the fact that Conygar are only in a scoping phase anyway.

Its good news, but will some of us old bastards live long enough to actually see it built? Fingers crossed once again. It's a good question. The purchase of the land will take 2-3 years to go through. Then the current tenants will be given 2 years to find a new home. That means it will be 4-5 years minimum before building can even start.

Would a stadium at the Fruit Market site have stand height restrictions? I would love a 40-45 thousand stadium capacity. A lot of new stadiums now are sunken so to speak with the pitch actually being below ground level. Like Brightons for example so the height is much lower than older, traditional stadiums that hold more than 20k. A lot of the WC stadiums I went to last year were like this. You walked in at ground level and you were essentially at the top of the lower tier meaning the pitch and majority of the lower tier were below ground level. I believe this also helps when there are concerns about the noise.

I believe this also helps when there are concerns about the noise. The Amex was built in a natural bowl so no need for them to “sink” the stadium. Remember the St Phillips area is natural marshland so if they start digging too deep we could end up with a beautiful new lake. Forget the Tote End, we can have the Deep End.
