I think we should just build it without Planning permission.

Slipped all the way to page 8... Can't let this one go quiet. I know we all caught up in excitement of south stand. Well done, it had been neglected

I think we should just build it without Planning permission. Maybe that's the cunning plan. Whilst people are focused on the south stand the fruit market will just pop up.

Think its going to be at least 5 years before we play a game in the new stadium. It'll probably take 5 years to get planning permission.

I'm getting concerned about what impact the WECA plans for the A4 corridor will have on the FM plans. As yattongas has pointed out planning will probably take 7 years if the Greens have control of Bristol city Council. The FM redevelopment will be a big undertaking at the same time that the A4 Brislington is carved up by Dan Norris. It seems to be a recipe for construction chaos.

I think it might actually help a planning application for a stadium- at the moment one of the reasons people could object to a stadium being built there is the idea of people driving into the centre of Bristol to attend a match; the more public transport options alongside the train that we can offer on the ground's doorstep the less that this will be a factor

I'll eat humble pie if I'm wrong, but the whole Temple Quarter/St. Philips/Fruit Market seems to be a done deal from all I've read. Obviously some will be concerned about the Green Party throwing a spanner in the works, but I don't think so. It's a mixture of rundown/derelict/polluted brownfield type land which is ripe for redevelopment if done in a sympathetic way. No doubt a few urban park type things would help.
Obviously the whole thing could and might go ahead without a stadium, but it needs to happen for the stadium to happen and I think it will. Whether our new Kuwaiti owners will make enough friends and have deep enough pockets is of course unknown.

The greens will affect the Fruit Market move, but I think it’s much more likely to effect the process of selling the mem than it is the planning application of the Fruit Market itself.
Assuming we’ve got to get planning permission for homes at the Mem to then sell the land onto the developers, we’ll probably hear non stop about traffic congestions, flooding risks and local school places. We’ll also get the TRASH group piping up about how the mem was a gift to city of Bristol intended for sporting purposes only and trying to block the move on those grounds too.
The planning application for St Philips itself, they can try to slow down, however they won’t be able to play concern for the local residents card because there aren’t any and from a planning perspective it’s built upon land in an area of dire need of regeneration, which building upon is a strategy that the Greens themselves have proposed in the past in a bid to stop outer city development. Best chance they have of stopping it is if they find a rare variety of greater spotted newt, but that’s for planning to decide.

Football isn't going anywhere so a stadium in an area that is right next to one of the busiest train stations outside London with plenty of buses should be a reason the greens should be for it. Reliability and cost of transport is not our issue. FGR moving to a motorway junction with a very green owner doesn't seem to be an issue.

We'll know by next spring going by stated dates. With the new majority shareholder, I'm quietly optimistic.

You would imagine everyone is working very hard behind the scenes.
Like to think Rovers have idea what a stadium would look like by now, how big it actually going to be. Given how much of show the south stand has been, I would go as big as possible now rather than have future battles.

I think given the problems with planning permission etc I think we need to go for the biggest possible. I would say look at a capacity of 27,001.

Whack an extra 3,000 on top. 😁
