Don't be silly. Widdrington has been in the game for decades.

You could do a better job sat at home on your pc I don't know Widdrington's situation, but most scouts at this level work for peanuts and get paid petrol money (usually about 40p per mile). One of the most undervalued roles in the game.

Thankyou Pirate at dispelling the untruth that anyone who works for a football club is rolling in cash

Pirate is an asset to the forum and I enjoy reading his player recommendations but this thread is disrespectful to Widdrington, the bloke works hard for a living just like anyone else.

One of the most undervalued roles in the game. Thst’s where the money should have gone, if you ask me. Easy to say in hindsight though I know. And if Widdrington really does travel the length and breadth of the country then he might as well have stayed at home as the effort he is putting in behind the scenes does not seem to be reflected on the pitch (JCH aside). All that effort to assemble a motley crew of relegation contenders.

Im a big fan of pirate who tolerates (just about) my annual requests for us to sign Ross Allen and Jamie White. Much rather have him then Widdrington who has a lot less contacts in the game then he would like us to believe. (As in his family members and Coventry)
Why not go down the non league route

One of the most undervalued roles in the game. I'm sure Pirate knows this better than any of us, but Michael Calvin's book 'Nowhere Men' gives a really revealing look into this undervalued role. Features our own Gary Penrice too.

Our worst signing under GC is Leahy. Also recommended by Pirate... Surely Mr 50:50 was by far the worst.
