Two wins, two draws, still unbeaten at home. Long may it continue.

People are fickle and only want to watch regularly when the club is on the crest of a wave. We're currently at our ceiling and so people generally will be less inclined to go. I am convinced if we were riding high in League 2 right now, we'd have higher attendances. I also think if we'd been in the Championship for several seasons and then had a season of struggle, our attendances would fall dramatically. It's the nature of a fanbase and in fact human nature. Look at clubs like Birmingham, Reading etc. Traditionally well supported clubs that have basically been treading water for a couple of seasons and despite being at a good level many fans have stopped attending. Couple this with the fact that it's rather expensive and time consuming to go every week then people will pick and choose, myself included. I'd love to go every week but coupled with working away a lot and needing to spend time with my family when I'm at home, I have to prioritise family over football. My full respect to folk who go to watch the Gas come rain or shine home and away, but fact is not everyone has that luxury. Think you are missing fans also want to be entertained by a reasonable level of football, what we've served up again Wycombe and yesterday was absolute cr@p bar JCH's goals. We're are playing non league level football with a Championship centre forward. Apart from our relegation season I can't recall watching such poor football for years, and even that season was OK until Gow was injured. We're now back to the Buckle and McGhee era's. I really fear a real tonking next week away at Lincoln. Did you miss the football up until last December?

Can we afford anyone better? HOWEVER, from what I heard today, Lee Johnson may soon be available. When he is sacked in favour of a German manager. And that comes from Sh1!heads. Fair play, I’ve read some crap on here over the years but this one must top it all What are they, 6th in Championship? - but a Germans lined up to replace him. Quality

I personally think the plummeting attendance is because of the apathy around any future for the club with no concrete plans of a new ground of even a buy out to give others a chance to realise our dreams. I think GC is doing an ok job - okay we could be more offensive and have more points on the board but these things even out. As others have said we have more points on the board than this time last season. I actually thought yesterday was good entertainment even though I’m gutted we didn’t get 3 points against a side that we should have put to bed.

If Gasheads really want us to be a successful modern football club then we have to get away from the idea that Rovers is some kind of blind faith religion where we meekly accept everything that is thrown at us because of a misplaced sense of loyalty. Whether it’s poor performance on the pitch or disastrous performance off it, the brutal truth is that most people don’t want to be associated with losers.

Shallow fans don't, but thankfully Rovers have enough genuine fans to have kept the club in existence. Especially in the conference. I agree the prawn sandwich brigade would be useful even if not necessarily wanted.

If we're 2k down on our average attendance that would equate over a season to be the best part of £1M over and above what we're already losing. Fans are a lot more fickle nowadays I'm afraid. An unsustainable situation IMO.

I don’t see any purpose in what are trying to do possession wise or pattern of play to shift the ball back to front. You don’t see the same movements or runs by players.
Tactical match planning seems to extend no further than picking a shape and which player takes each position.
I hope that’s not true, you can’t even see plan A let alone work out what the plan B and C back ups are.
Yesterday was a worry. No disrespect to Stanley but we should be putting clubs like that away, certainly when we’re home. If you can’t aspire to that, then we’re in trouble.
Said before, the strength in this league where finances are limited and you can’t just buy ready made off the shelf, lies with coaching, ie improving what you’ve got and developing your own. I don’t think our management team have got this.

It's nothing to do with the negative tactics IMO. The last two games in particular have been really entertaining. The abuse and nonsense hurled at GC during the second half epitomises this arogance amongst some that we should be steamrolling over decent teams like Accrington. If you think that our performance yesterday was entertaining I would hate to watch any game you call dross.i watch a lot of games at all levels in all areas of the country and the game rovers are playing is out of context with the majority of games I see even at local level in the bristol area you see teams playing pass and move very few are hump it forward and hope Entertaining in the sense that we've seen goals, moments (albeit rare) moments of quality and competitive, hardly fought games. I've watched lower league football for decades and I certainly wouldn't say our game is out of context. It's clear we've adopted a pragmatic, direct approach since GC took the helm but I think it's unfair to say there's no strategy behind I think. Interestingly it was only a couple of weeks ago we took on a fluid, technical, pass and move team in Oxford and our direct plan worked a treat.

I don’t think it’s arrogant to expect us to win at home against an Accrington side missing their two best players and reduced to ten men for virtually the whole second half. I don’t agree with those who feel the need to verbally abuse the manager during a game but given his choice not to adapt his formation/tactics then fan frustration is understandable. The frustration is understandable but the sense of entitlement and expectation isn't in sync with reality. I'd argue we were missing two key players too. You don't have to look too to see that playing against 10 isn't the advantage it perhaps is in the top flight when players are more technically gifted and can exploit the space.

The disappointing thing is that it appears 1,500 or so have withdrawn their commitment and support to the club and I think it's fair to assume a significant proportion of those have done so on the basis of results. It's their hard working money and choice of course but given we're competing at the best level we can hope to at present against some decent clubs it's a shame.

IMO we won't ever get promoted to the Championship and the Premier League is a million miles away. The dream that you could do a Wimbledon and race through the leagues has disappeared. FA Cup or League Cup glory has disappeared with the bigger clubs either dominating or not bothering (choosing Premier League survival instead). Add to that our dream of supporting our club in a new stadium which hasn't materialised in 40 years. Take away the hope and the dreams of a supporter and you've got a lack of excitement, and people will give up watching. We simply can't compete in a multi-billion pound sport. That's what made the non-league season so special I think. We suddenly went from plodding along in obscurity to being the exciting draw everyone was relishing a slice of. We arguably got much better media coverage with regular big write ups and front page exposure in the Non-league paper. BT were showing us live regularly on TV in a way we had never seen before too. Darrell Clarke was getting us noticed in other ways too going viral with his unique personality. Lee Mansell too doing the same by kissing JJ O'Donnell. This sort of exposure is extremely valuable going global around a young audience in a way that the big teams regularly do with ease. We almost had a hint of the big time in our own unique way and now we have drifted back into league obscurity again. Nothing like a bit of romanticising is there?! The coverage point isn't quite how I remember it. I do distinctly remember going crazy at Wembley having escaped the division and coming back into the 92. I think the truth is the season will be fondly remembered as we won most weeks and enjoyed the freedom of the park against minnows. We were averaging gates around 5k around the start of the season which picked up when the results came.

When you play like we did against 10 men and the manager makes no attempt to alter the tactics or style of play then it is no advantage. I suspect Accrington would have used a man advantage far better if roles were reversed due to their movement, willingness to keep the ball on the deck and having a manager willing to change formation as and when required.

Absolutely, they would have won if they had the player advantage. You have to have width when you have a man extra and use the space, we didnt, just a big boot upfield as our players seem bereft of ideas

GC is on a hiding to nothing, he’s obviously not allowed to sign any more players, we all now know, what happens if you speak out against that, ask DC. The board at present, are nothing short of dispiriting fakes. To be strung along like we have as supporters, it’s no surprise that support is dwindling. Yes, the football isn’t great, but I see a team of battlers, with one or two decent players. I’ve certainly seen worse teams in my 40 years of supporting.

Absolutely how I see it. We have had almost zero investment in players over the summer and yet this manager gets abuse! His dealings securing frees/loans have been pretty damn good. His hands are tied with players still under contract. Let him keep us up, it won’t be pretty at times but he deserves it. I just wonder if the lack of progress off the pitch will see him jump well before he is pushed. Be careful what you wish for gas heads!

Fair points. I suspect they weren't too daunted about going down to 10 having done so in their previous away game and pulling back a one goal lead.
