Very good points in the pal, Our work rate can not be faulted jesus the boys run out there legs off just quality is lacking, SS is a brilliant at chaseing all day and getting stuck in but goes sideways too much i fear, its very early days tho and these boys are gunna take time too get there, GAffney looks decent, great first touch, just need too get confidence and hell get them goals, Just a worry that the same will happen what has happend for some many seasons, Im guessing you boys hold DC high regards still not matter whats gone on? The facts aganist bradford was mis leading tbf, they missed a pen, had a goal disallowed, but yh its shows DC set up too play it about but still no final product, I was say one thing tho hes very honest in his talks and says it as it is! Again thanks for advice and opinions ! And thank you for your kind words!

Hey up boys i come in peace, I know you've moved on from DC and stuff but i was hoping for a little advice. As a few have said we are looking shocking atm, i mean 1 goal in 10 hours of play, Set up very very defensive, playing players in odd positions, playing odd formations, never sticks with the same team, I just dont understand his ideas on it all and was hoping you boys could show me a bit more light on him. I mean hes come into a rotten club but hes got off to the worst start you could imagine and knowing you boys been thru this already i was wanted too ask your opinion on it all? Weve got boos after games and a few people saying he should go already, completely over the top but hey when you dont win these things happen, Cheers for any words, and good luck this season boys! Good luck in the National League next season. You've got a decent manager for that level.

Love DC but towards the end with us he went very conservative and defensive - 1 goal in 10 hours or whatever is shocking and hopefully he can turn it around.
If he’s employing the same tactics as he was towards the end with us he’ll be gone before Christmas.

I think the stats show he always starts the season quite poorly but then second half of the season is almost always a big improvement. I do wonder if the rotation earlier in the season keeps the squad more fresh for when the first team settles down after Christmas. Always seemed to be the case with us.
I really hope he turns it around. I'd be gutted for him if he gets sacked by a club in L2 as I genuinely think he's better than that, but he's got to turn it around very quickly because he's already in trouble. Still, will always be a Gas legend in my eyes.

It just goes to show that having a training ground/facilities and decent stadium, isn't the "be all" it's cracked up to be.....

Adie Boothroyd was never the same manager after earning his badges either. They're obviously just a qualification, and not a serious educational tool. Boothroyd was 30 when he got his A License. Good knowledge there 👍 From what I could see he started to over analyse football, but a great manager in his day

In his first full season, he arrived at the training ground to Clarke out stickers and had a fair bit of abuse but he is nothing if not persistent and I have felt just like you have but the guy has a winning mentality and I’m sure that if he’s given the chance, he will come good for you & maybe unearth some tidy players from non league clubs. He really enjoy being around fans and you will find him very approachable if you get the opportunity to talk with him. He also showed us great loyalty when he had the chance to manage Leeds and turned it down, to stay with us. The man has real integrity. I hope things get better as he provided us with back to back promotions and a team that once again played with pride in the shirt. All the best

Again thanks for advice and opinions ! And thank you for your kind words! I think you'll be safe from relegation because only 1 side goes down this season and Scunny seem to be making a determined bid for that honour. There always seems to be one dead fish is n L2 with about 3 other teams fighting to avoid the 2nd relegation spot. That's certainly how it as in the season we went down. Its interesting the things your fans are saying about DC, because that's exactly how he was with us. Unfathomable changes every week in the team, confusing tactics, and a stone wall on any information regarding injury, contracts etc. We accepted this whilst we were doing well, but people soon started getting upset when we struggled, which was for the last 6-8 playing months straddling the final 2 seasons before he was fired. Best of luck to you guys, Boxing Day just isn't the same without our away fixture in the Black Country.

Surprisingly to me including his last full season and up and until he was sacked - 67 EFL matches - failed to score in 25.

WE always had a slow start with Clarke, even in the Conference, its almost like they have to hit the bottom before they start playing. I suspect he is playing defensive because he doesn't know his best team yet. Yes SS is very crab like, but Gaffney will get you some goals and set up others.

ISTM that there is a big divide on this forum over, what I consider to be one of, if not the best manager I think this club has had in my lifetime. He’s been gone 9 months, but there seems to be a new thread each week to dumb down his achievements - so if you all want to keep it going, then why not have a bit of fun & add to the FFS coffers at the same time?
I will pledge a tenner into the FFS pot if DC, DOESN'T get Walsall into the Playoffs this season. Anyone want to risk a quid or two either way? 😁

DC was 1 game from the sack with us during the conference season but once he got everyone playing his way and with his philosophy we couldn’t stop scoring or winning. It took 10 games for it to click and then we looked unstoppable.
Same in L2, we only got promotion because of an unstoppable run in and Accrington gifting us third place.
There’s a good thread on here which says we have had our best start in years under GC (it doesn’t feel like it) so that tells it’s own story.
He has signed you a team of grafters. That isn’t to be underestimated in L2 where grit, determination and passion will out rank skill and flare.
DC wasn’t the greatest manager for me, that was Gerry Francis, but he was our next best. We often puzzled at his formations, starting line ups and tactics and often used to see subs at 30 mins to change it all round. But he was always honest about it and took the blame if it went wrong.
You need to give him until Jan at least IMO.

See, I would say that Accrington weren’t good enough over 46 games to finish above us. If you are judging the season on the last game tho, I would argue that the skill & flare of Billy Bodin definitely out ranked all the determination & passion that might have been on show elsewhere.

It pains me to say this as I love the bloke but I fear for DC's future in club management. Something has changed in his mindset from our 2nd season in L1.Our promotion sides were based on heart, hard work and attacking football. He tried to win games, but then did his badges and changed that and tried not to lose first. It sounds like he has started at you like he finished here. At one point I would 100% put money on DC being a manager in the premership one day.But he seems now like he might struggle to get another job if things go wrong with you.😢😓 I wish DC all the luck in the world.
