I understand the winning ugly and playing very defensive but we must have an outlet. Any other team in our situation tonight would have had an outlet to catch Bromley on the break. They were on the front foot but rarely looked threatened at the back. 2nd round yes but nowhere near good enough

We drew on purpose.... All makes sense now Personally I think it's disgraceful that people are upset with GC. The bloke is a genius. Here's why: 1. Attendances are split 50/50 in the FA Cup, GC knows this 2. GC knew our attendance would be lower than usual. 3,649 attendance 3. Bromley can hold 5,000 - that will be a sell out. 4. In total, that's attendance money of 8,649 5. He also knew that if they were interested in the home leg, they'll love the away leg 6. Win at Bromley, pick up the prize money, attendance money is higher & TV money is higher He's probably made us about 75k more than we would have had if we just won tbh. Martin Starnes eat your heart out Genius. Coughlan for PM, his economic policy is second to none.

Coughlan seems to have mastered the ability of getting us to play awful football but keeping it tight at the back and somehow salvaging a result regardless. We were absolutely woeful tonight after starting relatively decently in the first 10 minutes we just retreated into our shells and let them have chance after chance like they were the league side. Embarrassing to watch really. Relieved to be in the hat for the second round but we have got to do so so much better than today. Menayese one of the few to come out with any credit in that, I thought the youngster defended superbly. If any Bromley fan reads this, you were fantastic over both legs and you've been robbed if truth be told. Best of luck for the rest of the season. That’s true we are absolutely awful to watch and Bromley have been robbed. BUT we’ve been pretty much mostly awful since Coggers took over and have gone from relegation certainties to staying up to on the verge of the play offs. We rob teams on a regular basis with our utterly sh**e football ( on the ball) which has taken us to our best season so far in what 10 - 12 years. We’ve just got to keep our chins up and enjoy it. This is most likely the best we can expect position wise with the board , budget, ground and facilities that we’ve got. We’re tough to break down and Coughlan is clearly a fantastic defensive coach and his defensive signings have all been very good, along with JCH. It’s working. I watch us on a regular basis so I’m aware of all that, I just thought today we were especially poor compared to usual. The result makes me mightily relieved and I think there’s still a lot to be positive about, It’s just today’s performance probably merited a comfortable Bromley victory. Not a great advert for us at all. The result matters more than the performance in the FA cup though so I’ll take it and move on.

Well that was hard watching, and no good for my blood pressure. We did it though, and the defence must be congratulated.

Strange negativity on here. Wasn't particularly pretty but who cares, we're through. Job done. I remember being on the Tote End as a kid & all I cared about was that we won. If this game was then, I’d be walking to Old Market, snacking on a small bag of chips with scrumps, happy as a pig in shi* at the result. Thought that apart from the back 3, we were very very poor, but with the rub of the green we won Exactly. UTG!

As Holloway once said “ we are like a cheap tea bag , don’t stay long in the cup”. So to be still in the cup is a massive bonus .so well done lads UTG

It’s the cup so it’s all about the result. Well done GC and players. I know it’s the same for all players but none of our players could predict the bounce or hold on to the ball when it came to them. Back 3 were very good and Rollin was MOM. Congrats to him, well deserved imo. UTG! Typical performance by the sound of it. Flat football, very little pace , movement or creativity but the defence was solid and we ground it out. I can completely see why our crowds are so low and the atmosphere is so poor at home but once again Job done, If we were playing good football and 7th in league 1 we’d be getting 2000 more on the gate.

It's a balance though. I've only seen 6 or 7 matches because I've been in Australia the last six weeks and live in Brum when I'm in the UK. However, the best I saw us play, by some margin was the Burton away match (lost 2-0). In that match we used a high press and I think that is the secret at this level. Onwards and upwards

Good result. I only watched the 2nd half - even that was pretty painful. Some baffling football from us ! Leahy launching high balls all the effing time !! Nichols - did he do one thing right in the half ?? I will despair if he starts v Shrews. I watched Harry Warwick for the Dev squad tonight - I think he would be better than Nicho !
Plymouth at Home will be another tester. Hopefully Plymouth will play an open game, then we'll have something to watch.

No quality, poor passing, no outlet, and that free kick wtf was that all about, we got through but devoid of any quality. Live GC s enthusiasm but not his football style.

Less said about that the better. Feel sorry for anyone who went. At least we’re into the next round UTG Don’t do. A wonderful time was had, that was a proper scrappy horrible cup tie if ever there was one. The very early goal sealed it & I thought we defended superbly. Consider the ball didn’t stick up front even once in the second half, to a man I thought the lads at the back were immense. Also, fake pitches are an absolute abomination. One slight touch and the ball runs away from you, by 10 yards or more. Just awful. This is before the home fans try and set fire to it of course. Back in the warmth of the coach with my fellow hardy souls. Bring on the Pilgrims.

Yes, our performances don’t change too much. We win ugly, we lose ugly, it’s all very fine margins. Perhaps this cup run will provide the funds to buy the creative midfielder we need. Trouble is I’m not sure GC really wants a creative midfielder, he has his system which he sticks to and it’s working results-wise. UTG!
