Think as a club we should do something, a minutes silence or round of applause, you cannot celebrate a young life in my opinion but this is so sad think we should do something this is bigger than football, looked at my 7 year old and the thought of losing him is unbearable What does everyone think?

Not against doing something, but don't think a round of applause is appropriate.

Can we chip in for a banner of support or something in time for the game?

Maybe a collection which can be passed on to him for a charity of his choice.

Can we chip in for a banner of support or something in time for the game? Good idea but perhaps one the club could pick up the tab for? Alternatively tee shirts worn by the players in the warm up? A collection or online fundraiser by supporters would be a good additional option as suggested by CJ.

100% NOT an applause.
Totally, totally inappropriate.
Banner would be the best gesture perhaps.
Edit: Just seen the suggestion about a charity collection. That could be a good shout.
T-shirts worn by the players a good shout too.

Such an awful tragedy - I have no idea what words would be appropriate for a banner (or t-shirts).
A collection for a charity of his choice is a good suggestion.

Once the dust has settled on this awful tragedy Perhaps Benik will set up a foundation in her name or have a preferred charity in which to donate to further research in which claimed his little ones life so sadly, perhaps then it might be appropriate to think about donations etc and support the cause too.
But any form of support I’m sure is appreciated.

I mean what do we really do? Anything like "We stand with Benefik" would just be corny IMO and I doubt he'd even care (don't mean that to sound obtuse, just being realistic). Ultimately we're all good human beings (well, most people are) and so you'd hope it's obvious we're all utterly heartbroken. Given the nature of the tragedy, it doesn't seem like it was an illness either which makes the charity angle a bit more complex too. Normally when you lose a loved one to a disease, the obvious suggestion is to give to a charity that specialises in attempting to cure - or even treat - the disease. But I'm not sure it's relevant in this case. Ultimately it's just one of those utterly heartbreaking situations - what do you do? Maybe the club could issue an announcement saying everyone at Bristol Rovers sends their condolences etc. - but I can't help but think does it really matter? If I were in his shoes (and I don't even want to entertain the thought) I honestly wouldn't care about anything. At all. It's one thing his club doing something and the City fans obviously - but anyone else is par for the course. Sorry, don't want to offend anyone and I'm only thinking out loud - and of course if anyone wants to do anything at all then please do so; I just mean that anything organised just feels.... I don't really know how to word it. What happened is so horrific. I can't even put it in to words properly. I just feel so sorry for them. It's heartbreaking.

To put it bluntly, it seems that whenever there is a tragedy now, that organisations feel they need to be doing something, when in reality there is very little they can or should do. It's a heart-breaking situation, but it is something that the family will deal with between themselves and their loved ones and I think they should be left alone to do exactly that.

Perhaps the club can have every players ‘under armour’ top printed with a short supportive message, similar to James Maddison’s & should we score Saturday, the nearest players lift the shirt & display said message as opposed to a celebration?
A simple gesture showing full support for a fellow professional going through the very worst of times right now.

As kind-hearted a thought as it is, there should be no gesture by club or fans for all of these reasons and more.

Maybe better at doing this in the replay vs Plymouth for more publicity?

Maybe better at doing this in the replay vs Plymouth for more publicity? I'm not sure publicity is what is needed. I know in these situations people seem to want to be seen to be doing something, but it isn't always what is wanted, no matter how well intended.

Yeah personally I wouldn’t want publicity or it to be all over the papers and media If god forbid I was ever in this situation. They probably want their closest friends and family around them and everything else to be closed off I would have thought. Not knocking the OP it’s a nice gesture but some things need to be low key and kept private and personal and I think this is one of them. I’m not a moderator but if i was I’d close this thread.

Cogs has passed the clubs condolences on, no need for anymore from us.
“The entire family have been left totally devastated and heartbroken, and would like to ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.”
Any sort of public fundraiser, silence etc is going directly against the privacy Benik has asked for imo.

How about a whip round at the next match, that the club can use to pay for some flowers/funeral costs to pass to Johnson to pass to Benik with all of our regards? No publicity, nothing in your face, but an honest and sincere, low key gesture from the fans and club?
