Home against Plymouth 1976 I think. Can't remember much but records show a 1-1 draw, 43 years on and nothing changes.
Where's the youngsters on here ? We're all at the waiting for God stage looking at the dates.

Started watching regularly 4 years ago. I've lived in Bristol for 25+ years, but only been to the mem once or twice before that. First game was against Mansfield about 15 or so years ago. Watched them about 4 years ago against Southend and have been to pretty much every home league game since.

21 December 1974. Lost 0-1 at Eastville v Portsmouth. I think I still have the programme. Onwards and downwards ever since!

First game 1966, so 53 years, probably, no - most certainly, clinically insane.

1982, looking at most others I feel so young. 😀
*There is a serious point though, we need to bring through younger fans but that is probably for another thread.

1966 rovers against Middlesbrough, I think Rovers won 1-0 and Bernard Hall received a head injury and never played again, sat in the North stand, when I was older I stood on the Tote end. I was stood on the open end terraces for that match and heard the thud when John O'Rourkes boot hit Bernard Hall's head. Terrible moments as Hall just lay there motionless for ages. Worst memory of following the Gas.

17th April 1976 at Eastville against Southampton. Rovers won 2-0 both goals scored by Frankie Prince. Good job we won and I was hooked by the Tote End roar from that day because my second game was a 5-1 home drubbing by Wolves! Yes I can remember that Wolves game - we got pummelled as the score suggests - think it was xmas/new year game - remember also that we had to park way up Muller Road towards The Mem - when that happened you knew it was a big crowd. My first game was Feb 1973 - Gas 2 Bournemouth 0. It was a big crowd. It was the last home league match that Rovers had an attendance in excess of 20,000.

First game was 5th Sept 1964. Beat Carlisle 5-2, with a Alfie Biggs hat-trick. Stood at the front of the Tote End & the sound of one of his headers slamming into the back of the net was awesome. If my memory serves I think there was 13000+ there. We did the double over them that season & they won the league. The S**t went up with them, Dad was from Kingswood but preferred the s**t , so took me & younger brother to see them play Brentford, as my first game, the season before ( night game 3-3, sad to say I loved it ) Funny thing was that Mum was from Knowle West, but loved Rovers, and worked in one of the tea huts years before, loved her stories about Eastville & wanted to go, but living in Hartcliffe, she thought it was too far for an 10 year old & a 7 year old on their own & Dad wouldn’t take us, but I turned 11 in the August & I somehow persuaded her that I was a big boy, now i was in secondary school. Nearly got on the wrong bus coming back & finally got home about 7, I was so distraught that I missed the Green ‘Un, but got up really early the following day to get a spare copy & that was me sorted for the rest of the day. Come on you Blues !!!!

02 November 1968 vs Tranmere Rovers. Lost 0-2 I was in the South Stand Enclosure as my girl (!) cousin took me. I believe we stood near where the players came out. She was very shallow and just wanted to get near the players! It was freezing cold, a rubbish game and I spent most of the time looking at the Tote End which fascinated me. Next game I stood on the Tote and that was it for me. I know nostalgia is not what it used to be but I do miss those days.... I hope we can bring on kids who will have something to look forward to and also remember!

The first two games I remember vividly is a 3-2 opening day home win against Luton, I believe it was Gerry Francis at the helm. Also, the 3-0 win at Derby in the Fa Cup.
Both around the 2000/2001 Mark I think without looking it up.
I can remember being at a night game at Twerton when I was a nipper, not for the football, but because I wet myself. Scarred for life.

My first match was a evening match when my dad took me to Eastville in the mid 60s, I can remember standing in the south enclosure ,but the only thing I can remember about the match was that Rovers were playing a friendly against a overseas touring side. Does anyone know who the opposition may have been that evening or is my memory playing tricks on me?
