Jaakkola 7 not much to do except one great first half save and to pick it out of his net
Little 4 poor
Craig 6 not much better
Kilgour 6 same as above
Rodman 7 strong second half when moved further forward
Upson 7 scored a cracker
Ogogo 8 was everywhere
Sercombe 7 decent
Leahy 6.5 didn’t do too much
Nichols 6 had a hand in first 2 goals
Clarke-Harris 8 pumped for the second half

Jaakkola 7 a couple of good saves, shocking defending in front of him in the first half' Little 6 got forward ok and some decent crosses, Craig 6,5 not his best game but kept battling Kilgour 7 first league goal and the best of a suspect defence. Rodman 7 a slow start but a good second half performance. Upson 7.5 M.o.M good second half , cracking goal. Ogogo 7 got better as the game went on. Sercombe 7 his second half performance sparked the entire midfield into life. Leahy 6 ok Nichols 6 assist for Ogogo goal, worked hard but two half chances spurned Clarke - Harris worked hard, no where near fully fit Subs: Adeboyejo N.o.l.e Smith N.o.l.e Hargreaves N.o.l.e Crowd 7 small but supportive Ref 6 ok Southend 5 some good stuff but caved in when we woke up. |

I think you have to rate them on the whole 90 minutes and it was such a Jekyll & Hyde performance the ratings for each half are markedly different: -
Jaakkola (8 + 7) 7.5 Two excellent saves in the first half kept us in it...0-4 at half time and we’d have been cooked.
Little (2 + 7) 4.5 sluggish and vulnerable first half, combined better with Rodman in the second half.
Kilgour (3 + 7) 5 hesitant and outpaced first half, looked a proper prospect throughout the second
Craig (3 + 8) 5.5 Slow square passing across the back was inviting trouble first half, Captain’s performance after the break
Leahy (2 + 7) 4.5 Anonymous first half, more involved in second 45
Ogogo (2 + 8) 5 bypassed in first 45, Tireless running second period.
Upson (2 + 8) 5 bypassed in first 45, pulled the midfield strings after the break
Sercombe (4 + 8) 6 probably our best outfield player in lacklustre first half, opened scoring opportunities in 2nd half
Rodman (3 + 8) 5.5 two chalk & cheese halves.
Nichols (4 + 6) 5 not the worst first half performance, not the best second half performance
JCH (2 + 9) 5.5 invisible before the break, imperious after it
Adeboyejo 5
Smith NOLE

Going by second half as first half bad for my wellbeing.
Jaakkola 7 could he he be faulted for either goal? Not sure
Little 6 Looked ok.
Craig 7.5 Martialled defence effectively
Kilgour 7 Also looked good.
Rodman 7 Some good runs up the wing.
Upson 7.5 Back to something like his best.
Ogogo 7.5 Pretty good, all action display. Read a good blog post about him this week.
Sercombe 8.5 We've got our sercs back.
Leahy 7 A thorn in Southend's side
Nichols 5 Still not great.
Clarke-Harris 8

Southend 5 Apart for the time wasting tactics, I warmed to them and felt a bit sorry for them. Quite liked their no. 9.

Little 5.5 good combination with Rodman 2nd half
Craig 6 poor passing 1st half
Kilgour 6 poor passing - great heart though
Rodman 6.5 very good 2nd half - wanted to take players on
Upson 7 lovely goal - bossed the 2nd half
Ogogo 6.5 much better 2nd - showed Nichols how to finish
Sercombe 7 was everywhere 2nd half and showed his usual composure
Leahy 6 steady.
Nichols 4.5 missed 2 gilt-edge chances 2nd half - same old story
Clarke-Harris 6.5 completely unnerved Southend in the 2nd.
Subs: Adeboyejo 4 poor

Cogs went direct through the middle 2nd and Southend crumbled. In my view we dearly miss Davies and I hope Cogs will go 4 -4 -2 a go in home games whilst Davies is out.

Jaakkola 7.5 - his brilliant first half save stopped the comeback being a step too far
Little 5 - terrible first half. Was constantly berating others for his mistakes. Got forward better in the second half but still could not kick a ball properly.
Craig 6 - poor first half, good second half
Kilgour 6 - same as Craig
Rodman 6.5 - was very threatening at times in the second half
Upson 6 - poor until his great goal
Ogogo 6.5 - looked lost in the first half but good after the break and took his goal well
Sercombe 6.5 good at times
Leahy 6 - quiet game
Nichols 6 - started very well but faded badly and looked disinterested for the rest of the first half. Second half was good although he should of scored right after the break but lacked the confidence to hit the ball first time. Not sure why substituted as when playing well has done better than the other two back up strikers.
Clarke-Harris 6.5 - Poor in the first half but well up for it after the break
Subs: Adeboyejo 5
Smith 4
Hargreaves NOLE
Crowd 6 - Disappointingly small

Southend 6 - Brilliant first half. No other team this season has ripped us apart so easily. Should of been four or five up at the break. Second half showed that if you put them under pressure they are actually quite poor.

I thought Hargreaves looked very sharp for his 3 or 4 minutes making 2 excellent tackles - hope he gets a bit more game time - Plymouth and Stevenage coming up !
