I reckon the overriding issue is family not club issues. If there was no family issue he'd be soldiering on with whatever behind the scenes because GC is not a quitter.
If he's only seeing his family sometimes once a fortnight, that will be an incredible strain.
Good luck to the bloke, if he goes for that reason, that's honourable..

Is anyone surprised when GC has proved his ability but knows that the owners have no money and are relying on selling probably our best asset to keep us alive for the rest of the season? So when are your knights in shining armour coming to save the day? Do keep up, they'll be in place by October last year.

If the issue truly is family related and being away from them, then why was he fine for 8 years at Southend? Did he not live there and had to commute every day? Did the family live closer? Surely not.

Strong rumours that City have activated his 300k release clause Why would we need them to **** us up. We seem perfectly adept at doing that all by ourselves!

Surely not. Exactly. It doesn’t add up that it’s family related unless of course you mean the Al Qadi family in which case it does.

What time does GC get up then ? I hope the decision is not drawn out, but this is Rovers so prepare for days of uncertainty

No doubt like many who attended the "Works Christmas Do" last night Mr Coughlan will be waking up thinking did I really say that out loud. "I meant to say that to the wife in the taxi on the way home"
But like everyone else who made a bit of a tit of themselves last night he'll hopefully just go into work on Monday and get on with the job he's paid well to do.

Without reading all the comments on here, my own opinions are that the main issue is the lack of investment funds for whatever reasons, and as a consequence he sees the club as having no ambition, its talk the talk but not walk the walk by the Board.
Yes family is always a concern BUT he has been around football long enough, so I am reluctant to accept that as a reason - why could they not move down nearer ? - this is always a major issue for all people involved in the game
I would also be looking at Mansfields involvement in all of this - did they tap him up to see if he was interested - if so was this through official channels ? - Seems mighty strange that within hours of GC speaking the Evil Post article announces Mansfield sacked their manager

Might be wrong but are we all jumping the gun at the moment, just watched the after match interview with Tom Nichols & when asked about GC it didn’t come over like he had told the lads he’s leaving. Just wondering if GC knows Mansfield are going to make an approach & he’s going to talk & weigh it up with his family. But the rumour is he is off to Mansfield in the January window. You heard it here first.....👍 £58m or so I heard the figure banded about 😋

So what are the facts GC's contract ? I know that they are not worth that much but surely he cannot leave to go to another team without compensation ?

So what are the facts GC's contract ? I know that they are not worth that much but surely he cannot leave to go to another team without compensation ? He could resign (if we accepted) and then go. However, we'd bring court action and get the money anyway. Mansfield got £250k for Evans going to Peterborough - so we really should be looking for double that.
