We sold Barry Hayles and Jason Roberts ages ago and look how the market has changed - why are people happy with a million? No wonder we seemingly get walked all over! We look and seem desperate! At least 3 million now, 2.5 in the summer!

Are there any recent examples of a similar quality goal scorers, same age and under contract ? Interested to know if there is a ‘going rate’ He’s done well in 12 months for us but done very little before and seems to have a habit of pickling up niggling injuries and taking a while to fully recover. £1m would seem about right for me. Sadly any fee received is unlikely to get used for new signings. Marquis to Pompey in the summer for £2m? Although Accrington then in L2 managed to somehow get £2.5m for Jackson and Sunderland paid £3m/£4m for Grigg!! Oxford also got £3.5m for Roofe after just one good season. Not sure there's been any powerful L1 CF sold recently to a Championship club, although this season injury issues maybe a concern.

It's about time the people who run our club learnt how to deal with transfers and contracts. If JCH is on a 3 year contract as was reported then there is absolutely no reason to sell him this January unless a market value is reached and I would say for a player with his record 3m is not out of the question but we are Rovers and the owners have proven during their time with us that they are not going to put money in and therefore the first bid over 500,000 will be in their pockets. When we're £15m+ in debt do you honestly think any transfer fee received is going into the ALQ's "pockets"? If JCH was 100% fit he might be worth £3m but I doubt we'd get that when he's missed so much of this season and seems to have a long term issue with his calf.

Anything over 1Mil would be good. A very good 12 months, picked up on a free and has missed a number of games. Irrespective of the price someone is willing to pay we also need to understand the value to us of keeping him: potential promotion, a good cup run and even if those don't happen a valuation that isn't likely to slip by the summer. It's short term madness to just sell him in this window.

After last nights & recent performances JCH might not be the only player attracting interest, I am sure Jaakkola & Kilgour will be under a few clubs radar.

Just the northern version of the clickbait post.
Starnes didn’t say say JCH was for sale, he didn’t say he was going to take offers. He said the usual that every player has a value and is it beneficial to sell him.
If Hull city came in at 2.5m then that’s worth considering. If they came back at £450k like they did in the summer then it’s a get stuffed.
JCH is currently injured and has only been half fit when he has played. I can’t see anyone making a serious bid.

Is that how much of a soft touch we are seen as these days with clubs coming in with derisory offers of £450k? I don't know who to feel more embarrassed for, us or Hull? I'd have just laughed and said stop wasting our time.

Toppergas, I don't look on the debt as 15 m- I look on the debt as being minus the value of the Mem if sold. We must be getting pretty close to this value and IMO once we reach that figure then the owners will actually be putting their hands in their pockets for the first time which is why I think they will want to sell a few players to lengthen the time before they are actually paying anything.

Aren't we already £18 million or more in debt?
