This is a blessing him staying, could be good for all parties. With his head now clear from agents and rumours he can continue doing what he does best in a much stronger team now. And if he has a good end to the season he will attract offers in the summer and to be honest I wouldn’t begrudge him a move in fact he’d deserve it with our blessing. So let’s get behind him and the team from now til the end of the season. Jch not leaving is better than any deadline day signing for me.

Hopefully with some better players around him he won’t get so frustrated and start to look like he’s enjoying playing again. He did say at the start of the season that he had unfinished business here, so maybe that's why he's stayed.

You can’t sell what nobody has bid for. Bodin was under what we should have got, should have been 1 million imo. Taylor-absolutely robbed Harrison-got well over his worth at 750k Just my opinion on what I see them as

Yes I happen to agree there as well, just think only getting £300,000 for the man was daylight robbery 😂

Yeah, although it looks like we were shafted, really, as he was out of contract and wanted by Oxford in the preceding summer, we actually got half a season and 300K out of him for free.

And all funded by Lansdown. Sad for Matty really as he’s earned his fortune but probably passed by on his opportunity to make it in the Championship going there. Whilst he had the odd chance to shine he never really had a proper go. It was just a chance for Johnson and Lansdown to stop our progression.

But as I remember it he only resigned because no one came in for him, million pounds or otherwise. He apparently wasn't highly rated by the football world. City only came in for the reason we know about.

You can’t sell what nobody has bid for. Exactly. No one thought he was worth paying for. Charlton only took him because he was free. He ran his contract down because it was the only way he'd leave.

Plus the Ted's bought him as a smoke screen.

The way I see it the step up from the Championship to L1 is a risk. Most players have to get through there through promotion, or on a free. Only the real stand out players get big money transfers and they tend to be attacking players whose promise is quantifiable by the goals they score.
Lockyer in my eyes was too much of a risk to demand a fee. It’s not that championship clubs didn’t rate him and didn’t think he’d make it, they didn’t want to chance the cash on a fee as well as the wages. And thus why Tommy left us on a free.
Similar with Matty, the few had to be insignificant enough for it to be low risk and that’s why he had that clause

But for free? My memory isn't all that good, but yes, they did, but he was persuaded to stay.

Always thought it surprising that no one, maybe bar Oxford, came in for Taylor that summer when he was available on a free.
Didn’t DC hint at why he knew no one came in for him?

I thought he was hinting at him not actually being that good / not a good team player (watch the Wembley final / Dagenham game to see what I mean)

Easily a £1Mega player! Loved watching Matty Ellis and Bodin playing together towards the end of Marty’s time with us. Ellis and Matty were beginning to forge a great understanding. I don’t think Matty has progressed as much Since as he could have done with us. JCH is worth at least £5M if injury free Effort he puts in is unbelievable

Back on the JCH front, has there been any word of sorts that we've re-entered contract negotiations? We were in talks ages ago and then it went quiet.
