It's a tough one. Cases rising, but admissions and deaths staying fairly flat, meaning I think, those catching it are young enough to fight it off without the need for Hospital care, or the vaccine is doing it's thing. Everybody could catch it but as long as conditions stay the same, is that reason to keep the "open up" on hold? Hospital admissions will rise . Remember there’s about a two week lag on numbers we’re seeing now and admissions. AZ 69% effective, Pfizer 88% ( approx I think ) on those double dosed. With the numbers rising as fast as they are , that’s an awful lot of people that could be in real trouble. It’s simple maths. This always comes across as being facetious, but why would be in real trouble? The vulnerable are no longer vulnerable and those that catch it can cope with it. Who's left at risk?

If 10 % double dosed Pfizer, 30 % AZ , all those not doubled dosed and all those not dosed at all are all at risk to a greater or lesser extent. Cases doubling by the week , R number now at 1.2- 1.4 and increasing .

Yes, but untested against the Delta variant. Thats the issue. If they do well, and deaths in younger unvaccinated people are no higher, shouldn't come to much.

Someone, a Sky Journalist, has said this morning that out of the last 42 Delta deaths, 12 had been vaccinated twice. That's not good. I'm not sure I can worry much more about this, what will be will be.

This is typical endemic stuff now but the development of RNA van means it might be quicker to adapt boosters for new strains. In my world, leadership are planning for a significant 3rd wave, they just aren't sure how bad it will be yet. There's some level of optimism but not a lot of science.

Good luck matey, hope no side effects. Sorted! Pfizer 😊 The guy there said as it’s a walk in centre it’s worth coming around 5/6pm in about 5/6 weeks as they very often have spares - so will give that a go How you feeling Mate?

Dare I ask how much a pint is? £6.50 for a can of Heineken... I’d feel better if I could at least drink it in my seat, but you have to finish it ‘inside’

So it looks like restrictions wont be lifted for at least another four weeks. I hope they lift the limits of weddings so that my sisters wedding on July 20th can go ahead at full capacity (this is the third time rearranged wedding from last spring!)
Once I leave Qatar I can enter the country again with no quarantine as I am vaccinated, unless however, its from a small list of high risk countries, like India etc. Now I am worried that with the rising cases in the UK, they will also be put on that same list.

I expect they probably will tbh mate. We’ve gone from 2/3k cases to 7k cases in about 2-3 weeks with the Indian variant now being in 91% of positive tests...

I just hope at least the hospital admissions and deaths remain low. Its been a nightmare planning my trip back home for this summer, the last thing I need is to then have to quarantine in a hotel when I get back here in August or to spend time in another country again!

Yep I get that. We're supposed to fly to Croatia next month, but the way its going that might be off. The only thing we have going for us is that Croatia generally need the tourism so open their borders to all. But with the Indian variant, that might change things

Prediction, we’ll pretty much open up for 4 weeks time and the school summer holidays and maybe even foreign travel will happen. Come September, we’ll be looking at more restrictions again and maybe even another lockdown.
