Thing is they landed a billionaire , if they hadn’t Ashton fate would still be a shithole with no corporate hospitality. In the best case scenario we’d be bought by a billionaire who is nothing like Lansdown ie not turn it into a plastic sport franchise. If it ever happens then the Leicester way would be great , the shithead way would tear the soul out of our club. Chances are well keep on doing things the ragbag Rovers way though. I go to Ashton Gate frequently to watch the rugby and it’s a fabulous experience and it looks like it’s going to get better. This franchise nonsense is one of the many things which makes us look like small minded bigots and if I remember correctly we were full of it when we thought we’d been bought out by billionaires who were about to make us the sixth wealthiest club in Britain. We were going to get a new stadium, new team, new everything but no one was saying it would make us a “franchise” it was all about how we were going to shove it up them. As far as I can see City, a club which used to get 30000+ gates for big games 40 years ago hasn’t changed for its fans, other than its better, it’s ultimate owner embraces other Bristol sports and is developing them, two of which we lost as we’d ditched, the Women’s outfit and we’d effectively driven the rugby club to find a new home. i wish this forum would concentrate on Rovers and not concern itself about what’s happening across the city...all we do is give them ammunition to use against us and to have a good laugh at our expense. Never a truer word spoken. It’s pure jealousy. If we actually had a rich owner everyone would be shouting it from the rooftops. So anyone who is successful is a franchise? Cos everyone who is successful has got money. We’re just sick of never having a pot to water in, so it comes out as jealous remarks about anyone who has. UTG

Wish he’d bought us and not them and so does everyone else on this forum including you.

No point in worrying what that lot are doing. We need to concentrate on us - the sh** will soon be the poor relation in this infrastructure redevelopment. The Bears are doing well, basketball is on the up too. All the rest is hotels, houses and a multi use indoor arena - wouldn’t be surprised If SL sold the sh**, after all, they are costing him a fortune and holding him back

The plans do look impressive and, although I haven't been there, their stadium development shows what can be achieved on a limited footprint site.
Three things that I do notice from the proposed development: i. There will be little on site parking at all after the development. This is not unknown elsewhere, but would present greater travel impact in the surrounding area and would create a precedent for Rovers to do the same e.g. develop the current car park at the Mem and rely on 'managing the issues'as their Mr Griffiths puts it. ii. The proposal is to develop land that is currently occupied by others, Wickes and other retail outlets. Is this land that City intend to purchase, or do they own and lease to the retailiers already? iii. I'm trying to understand the Bristol Sport business model. Although the plans do create significant opportunity for non-match day income, is this not diluted by having to distribute the income to the various sporting teams under the Bristol Sport banner?
Overall, you would have to say the development looks impressive and it just cements my belief that we could develop the Mem site, IF suitable investment could be attracted.
