This weekend sees the visit of the seasiders, Blackpool. It seems a long time ago since they beat us 2-0 at the start of the season, Blackpool fans were riding the crest of a wave with the noose around their neck finally lifted, with the departure of the Oyston's. A few new additions including the impressive Sulley Kaikai a player BG will know all about (Ex-Palace), and a new manager in Simon Grayson. As a gashead who knew what to expect? After a brilliant end to the season for 18/19, I expected GC's "Irish luck" to run out a little and end up about mid table under him.
Anyway, here we are 6 months later and with us on a 14 game winless run, we are somehow 2 points above them. This shows 2 things. 1)Just how much GC surpassed my expecations, and 2) How Blackpool have disappointed. I should probably also mention that Blackpool have only won 1 in 10, and have just this week sacked Grayson. I'm sure the manager bounce, might have some sort of effect. I mean it always does, doesn't.... (never mind). Somehow despite our ridiculously awful form, I am feeling more positive than I probably should be. We look much worse defensively under BG's stewardship, also less streetwise. However some of the new additions have shown promise and you can see what BG is trying to achieve, even if he has been very unsuccessful with it so far. The main worry for me when he first arrived was lack of chances, however we now seem to be creating these. If we keep creating then we will eventually start putting them away.
I'm going to stick my neck out, and back BG and the boys for our first win under him. Bristol Rovers 2-1 Blackpool.

GGMI ruins more valentines days than Al Capone by starting the match day thread one day early....

Ok, the drinking has started so...
I wonder if you could go back in time to just before BG was appointed and say to Wael* "BG's Rovers team will not get their first win for at least 14 games", if he would still have appointed him and believed in his long-term vision?
* This is obviously after you have convinced Wael you are indeed from the future.

He'll get what's left of this and a preseason before an assessment on whether it's working or not. First 10 games of next season will be make it break

I don't disagree, but long-term vision or not I don't think anyone expected the form to be this bad.

Announce 4-0 up 60th minute abandonment. If we’re 4-0 up the H&S Manager will be bound, gagged and locked in a broom cupboard before he gets a chance to call it off.

Do you think Wael has taken note of the shits lickle Lee situation and will persist forever with BG to engender continuity like Lansdown has done. So regardless of results we persist with evolution until BG gets it right. 1-1 for me today

Another draw for me , they have Jay Spearing out which should benefit us but then again today might not be about football on the ground .

The importance of a win at this current point in time can't be underestimated. Blackpool are going through just as bad a time as us recently and I hope we can take advantage of that.
2 - 1 scrappy and hard-fought win for BG's first as Rovers boss. UTG
