Obviously some bad blood between Sunderland and Coventry. Why?
I thought Coventry are a useful team. We've not beaten them once in 4 efforts this season. I'm not expecting a thrashing on Saturday but it will be a tough game.

I'm not expecting a thrashing on Saturday but it will be a tough game. It goes back to the 80’s Last match of the season we were at Everton and Bristol City were at Coventry, the only combination of results which would put us down was a defeat for us and a draw at Coventry. A draw for us and whoever lost at Coventry went down. Somehow Coventry never expected to have a big crowd for this game and didn’t open all of the turnstiles, resulting in large numbers outside the ground just before kick off and for safety reasons they delayed the match for 20 minutes. At full time at Everton when we had lost by one goal, the score was flashed up at Coventry, who were two goals up, they stopped playing gifted Bristol City two goals and the last 15 minutes was spent with the ball being passed to the other team on the halfway line. To say that there is bad blood in an understatement. Coventry get most of the blame, but your neighbours are also disliked as a result.

Upson and Ogogo both one caution away from a two match ban, as is Dobson for Sunderland going into the game.

Hope you all have a good day or weekend if you are coming to the game. Obviously I am talking about none football good days. If this is your first visit to a game up here, you will be pleased to know that there are no home only pubs and we are happy to mingle and have a chat before and after the game in any pub. As to the game, we seem to have turned a corner and are in our best run of form since we dropped into this league. The biggest difference under Parkinson is the number of clean sheets, I think it is 6 in the last 8 games. This means that we score we win, so even though we do t have anybody who is banging them in every week, we have more than enough chipping in here and there to win games. The most impressive change is getting three at the back plus wingbacks you work when Ross, our previous manager couldn’t. The difference is that the wingback seem to have more freedom to get forward and it times it is more like having five forwards on the pitch, with the wingbacks getting into the box along with the three forwards, We still miss to many chances, so if you can cut off the supply to the wingbacks by pressing them back you will have a chance. The other thing we are doing just now is pressing teams from the front. This was a big factor against Rochdale, who on the first half tried to play it out from the keeper to their full backs on the 18 yard line. The result was the defenders being forced to play hurried passes or losing the ball and putting themselves under more pressure. By the way just say that City are cheats and that they are as bad as Coventry and you will be well liked. What are the best pubs for kids? The Wheatsheaf have posted on our supporters club page saying we are welcome so was going to head there.

Lots of good info, look under "map" for stadium, stations and pubs.
Hope to see 1 or 2 of you at Bristol airport on Friday evening for a beer. Will be wearing the shirt.

I remember that incident at Coventry v City - definitely fixed by Jimmy Hill who was an old mate of City manager Alan Dicks.
I think the result of the Sunderland v Everton game was flashed up on screen resulting in an ending very similar to Germany v Austria in a World Cup match where no one laid a glove on each other.
Surprised though that this hatred has gone on for so long - a bit like us and Notts County under Warnock!

The answer to the question is yes.
it didn’t help when last season our fans were attacked on the way back to their buses at Coventry and then having then throw coins bottles and even bag of sh@t down n the Sunderland fans at the home game. It was also not the best idea to go into one of the pubs near the ground with balaclavas on attacking Sunderland fans after throwing a smoke bomb in.
then after the match going around in groups looking for a fight. It was like going back to the 1970’s, I should know I was a travelling fan back then and I can remember some of the things I had to do to avoid getting into bother.
so all in all we don’t like Coventry.

Having watched the boys at;Alfreton,Braintree and Nuneaton this will be a bit of a come down! Guarantee we will play in front of a bigger crowd than Bristol's other team!!! We did well there last season on GC's first game.

So who should Sunderland look out for in your team just now and are there any weak spots you don’t want us to exploit?

I have given you a summary of how we play so only fair to ask for the same. I don’t think either set of coaches will be relying on this board to get inside info.
