Not a fan of JCH taking pens though his success rate is pretty good, got lucky with last nights, left footers don't give me much confidence! give em to boom, boom Alfie! Richard Walker best one i remember! Now he was good, but Rickie all day long. Never thought he would miss, almost the same at free kicks within 25 yards, truly exceptional dead ball striker.
I though JCH pen was good. Sure the keeper guessed correctly but was enough power that he didnt have time to get low enough, which is the other positive about his spot kick, it was along the ground and not at a comfortable height.

On the subject of poor penalties, I recall a game against I believe it was Wrexham at home on the last day of the season.
Wally Walters hid a poor one straight down the middle of the goal, it hit a dusty divot and bounced over the prone keeper.

Did someone on here then suggest he should be sacked? Yes, I think they did. He still has my vote but perhaps an hours practice at today’s training might be an idea. Although I know you can’t replicate the pressure of a match. But it’s learning a technique/ process to place the ball into a certain area isn’t it? And then keeping your nerve. UTG! Agree. It’s similar to a golfer. I remember Colin Montgomery used to have a drill where he’d have to hole 100 consecutive putts from 2-3 feet, if he got to 99 and then missed he’d have to start again. Whilst it didn’t replicate the pressure of holing a short putt on the final green to win The Ryder Cup the repetition and knowledge of being able to get the job done certainly helps. I’m sure being able to focus on hitting each corner of the net from the spot in training must help come match day - just get up there and focus on the chosen corner, don’t change your mind, ignore the noise and trust your well practiced technique. Piece of water !!!

I agree with OP (was thinking the same yesterday) that JCH is not a great penalty taker. He was lucky on Tues and also hit a poor one v Fleetwood which cost us 2 pts. Would like to see BG give the honours to someone else. In recent years Lambert and then followed by Jeff Hughes were both fantastic penalty takers.

I am a believer if you hit hard and low and its on target 99% of the time it will go in the 1% was against Fleetwood then, let's see if he takes 100 pens for the Gas
