May be of interest to some of us that Bath City had their stadium redevelopment plans scuppered by BANE Council earlier today. I’m gutted for them. www.bathcityfc.com/club-statement-regarding-twerton-park-redevelopment/“Bath City FC is devastated with the decision to reject our planning application. We have worked closely with Bath and North East Somerset Council throughout this process and have sought the advice and guidance of council officers in an attempt to propose a scheme which would protect the future of Bath City FC, help us to pay off our debts, bring benefits to the local community and see much-needed investment in Twerton High Street. Along with our partners, Greenacre Capital, we have proposed a project that would have dramatically enhanced the prospects of Twerton, introduced new affordable housing to the area and, in fact, delivered Purpose Built Student accommodation clearly in line with the Council’s own strategy. In addition it would have ensured the city had a high grade football club and stadium for current and future generations. Despite a groundswell of support, with large numbers of positive comments on the planning portal from the Bath community, Bath and North East Somerset Council has decided not to approve this once-in-a-generation opportunity for Twerton. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to bring this application before the council and to everyone who has thrown their enthusiastic support behind it. Fans, players and staff can all rest assured that we will continue to act in the best interests of the Club and that there will be no drastic short-term changes although our focus will now be to Bath City FC to consider all options for its future.”

Most locals are happy with the plans, just the fact to many students in the area and not enough parking.

They’re only interested in the egg chasers in Bath Not even sure they’re that bothered about that. They’ve had almost as much trouble as we have trying to sort out a new stadium. Groundshare in Keynsham? 😏

I know a few people who live in Bath and they all say there are too many students and whilst housing is being developed for them it's not being developed for local people and its not affordable

That’s a real shame, I was hoping that would help secure their long term future. Any chance of a compromise developement.

Sad day for Bath and Bath FC, we feel the pain, what a great and dignified communication from Bath City, our own hierarchy can learn from that com, I wish Bath all the very best for the future.

Whilst, probably out of sympathy, i personally supported the plan i can see why it failed. We all moan about housing being built in areas where infrastructure is already struggling to keep up with demands so i feel it was right to turn this one down. How else do they finance such a build though? Sell up maybe and move?

I have for decades been convinced that BANES planning committee is completely fit for purpose and staffed with honest and competent individuals*.

It’s got a certain ring to it.

Always been a dream of mine for both clubs to team back up with a single development in and around keynsham, sod it stick the egg chasers in there too! 3 clubs, blue, black and white - all need a new stadium...

You’re probably right if we limit the area between Bristol and Bath to Saltford High Street !!! I think Prince Charles owns a lot of land around there - perhaps old big ears could cut us a decent deal?
