For clarification the figures don’t add up I meant to say, but carry on panicking if you want. And my figures off a government web site 0.1% die from flu, but that’s out of 600,000 becoming infected with that particular virus.

Another issue is that the more who catch it, the higher the chance of then passing it on to those whom it is more dangerous. But it only effects those in ill health. Or aged. Like the standard flu. If only that were true...look at Italy and those in ICU quite a few are young . A lot of us Gasheads are over 60 or 70 some perhaps with high blood pressure or diabetes and some not enjoy best of health so don't be so dismissive of their lives. Agree most likely to be lucky and only laid up for a week or two but some will not. Statistically, we are likely to loose some of our fellow Gasheads unfortunately.

I'm sure you care, but the old "we'll get over it" line does kind of make it seem like you don't? "the figures are meaningless", "it only effects those in ill health, or aged", "more die of flu than this, it's gotten ridiculous" and "can you put a figure against that?" But of course, "that doesn't mean I don't care" Sounds really empathetic of someone who's opinion is clearly well informed on the matter. Lost respect for him, won't be liking anymore of Baggins post not that I did anyway.

The Wee angry one - north of the boarder attended this afternoons Cobra meeting and she has said schools still open and nothing about football not being open to the public - TBC
At this moment in time things looks fairly much as they were ?
Early days, Boris to hold press conference shortly.

My niece has been to Mozambique on a business trip, at the Mozambique airport she was tested, she then flew to South Africa where she was tested again, arrived at Heathrow, NOT tested. And they wonder why it is spreading

As a season ticket holder, it seems fair to be given a voucher for I follow matches played behind closed doors. Unfair to expect them to pay out money to watch a match they have already paid for. And I understand to some on here it is small beer, but some of us are on a tight budget.

And they will again this year, but the NHS is expecting that, and can handle it. Now add on a new disease that will likely on current estimates will infect just as many people or more, and put 5 times as many people in hospital, and you have a heathcare service that is completely overwhelmed.
Lets say 600,000 people get corvid-19, that's an EXTRA 30,000 people in hospital. There are only 142,000 hospital beds in England in total.
What if 6,000,000 people get it? We have no immunity, or vaccine.
That's why we have to slow the spread as much as possible.

I guess the UK has an outlook of "the cost of doing business" so we won't close our borders unless we absolutely have to. If it gets a foothold in Africa then the whole place is pretty much ****ed as far as limiting the potential consequences.

Friend has just been told to quarantine with suspected Covid-19 - he's just back from a cruise. Seems a lot closer when it's someone you know.

Thank you faggotygas for displaying the voice of reason on this thread. Far too many people are far too dismissive of these things, and I'd bet that most of these are those with nobody close to them that would be likely to face severe consequences if they got it. Either that or they think it simply won't affect them, which is dangerous thinking.

As I can't get sanitiser as the selfish minority have cleared the shelves , whatever happened to the blitz spirit!! Whilst I agree there were selfish people panic buying, it's also a case of just not having enough sanitiser to satisfy the UK. You'd need 66m to make it fair, and thats just assuming we only need one each. I'd be surprised if there were 5m in the entire country. I'm starting a new role on 23rd March and have now been told to start from home as they're closing the offices globally. They'll be sending laptop & phones via post and we'll be conducting trainings via skypes etc. Not quite the start I was looking for, but I'm just glad to start. As I've left my current role and taking a couple of weeks off, I was really worried I'd be caught in no-mans-land without a job and the new company would push the start date back.

My colleague flew to Cape Town last week and was temperature tested on arrival. Flew back on Wednesday to Gatwick.... NOTHING. If these so called developing (I don’t class SA as developing btw) countries have the resources to carry out these basic spot checks then then why the hell aren’t we!!

A Government adviser stated today it's unlikely fans will catch CV from attending a football match etc, you're far more likely to catch it from a family member, friend or work colleague, whilst Sturgeon has suggested gatherings over 500 don't go ahead so as not to put pressure on the emergency services they don't seem to be struggling at present, although things clearly might change. Suggest we pack the Mem on Saturday as we might not see another football match again for the rest of the season!
