Something that’s less Coronavirus related, does anyone know which players are out of contract this summer? Was thinking about this just now and we may have seen certain players, play for us for the last time against Sunderland if there aren’t going to be any fixtures until the end of June.
JCH and Kyle Bennett’s contracts run until 2021 but both may leave in the summer anyway.

I would guess that any player that is out of contract as at 30th June will have there contracts temporally lengthened until the end of the current season.

Bennett wont get another contract as good as this one again in his career, so if he does leave in the summer we would have to do something similar to what Portsmouth did with him when he joined us.
I can quite easily see him sit on his contract and run it down though.
Car crash of a signing this was.

That's assuming this season isn't just declared void and also agents/players agree to an extension, another issue is loan agreements as I assume Nichols ends in May as does M-L & Ginnelly's. Plus Rovers might be only to happy to lose the likes of Matthews and Reilly off the wage bill in June if by then we're struggling to play the players wages.

I can quite easily see him sit on his contract and run it down though. Car crash of a signing this was. Could be worse. Sunderland got themselves lumbered with Jack Rowell for years on a £70k per week contract. Not surprisingly he wasn’t keen to just walk away either!

Yeah I remember seeing him in that Sunderland Netflix documentary. He didn't seem bothered whether he played or not as long as he picked up his pay cheque...

Not sure if it was a done deal or a proposal.

I reckon every player out of contract in league 1 or 2 in june will not get a new contract. In the current state I think it would be ok as in theory that should be around the 'peak'. After that, I'd guess we'll start being allowed to have social gatherings etc again in preparation for the next season. Some contracts may have to be automatically extended just to finish this season though (if it can be finished)

I reckon every player out of contract in league 1 or 2 in june will not get a new contract. Why? Because every club will be struggling to survive and you could offer a player a 1 year deal and that player might not play until october, december or even the whole of the contact. Clubs like rovers cannot afford to risk offering anyone a contract in my view in this uncertain climate.

Clubs like rovers cannot afford to risk offering anyone a contract in my view in this uncertain climate. Will probably depend on if the season has resumed by then or is expected to resume in the near future as those contracts could be extended by weeks or months, therefore not leaving the clubs with a long term liability and completing their fixtures with the strongest team possible. Those nowhere near the first XI which the club didn’t want anyway will be on their way. Is there an opportunity for clubs to use this situation to their advantage? If you had a player like Matty Taylor running down his contract now he would be in a weaker position and a bit more fearful for his future and perhaps more likely to sign an extension without having the power to demand a low get out clause? (shame we don’t have many decent players these days!).

Over the next 6 months (?) the real battle will be about people staying alive esp the elderly and those with an underlying health condition. Football-wise the battle will be clubs battling to survive. It’s no longer about styles of play, results etc., it’s all about the club surviving and unfortunately individuals will inevitably suffer as clubs look to still be here in this time. It could be that those whose contracts run out in June will be badly hit through no fault of their own, but through bad luck.
The conversations about the impact of CV will be very different in the PL from the conversations being held in the lower leagues, including the Championship. One will be about when do we start again, how do we re-schedule, the others will be thinking how do we survive, what costs do we have to cut. Bad times I’m afraid. UTG!

The winter for sport has already arrived; I would imagine if CV fulfils its worse, this catastrophe could be with us for up to 18 months, leaving the whole of football as we know null & void. My prediction is BRFC will survive, with or without Waq, our fan base is as resilient and strong as any in the UK and we will not simply let the club die on the vine. UTG
