The problem this weekend was that everyone thought they would find a bit of space and go for a walk far from everyone else in the country. Shopping centres were probably the quietest places yesterday and Saturday. Hopefully it will be different next weekend.

Anyone know a lot about this?
I’m now classed as a key worker(supermarkets yay!) but 111 have advised me to self isolate for 7 days which I will be doing.
When I speak to my direct leader though I want to make sure I know everything regarding pay, as to make sure I’m not losing too much money.
With my company I get two weeks full pay whilst sick. But that’s if I provide a doctors note.
What is this 80% pay? I’m only on a 35 hour contract but I haven’t worked less than 40 in over a year, have done 55+ the last 4 weeks or so and probably 45+ for the last 3 months at the least. Will it work out as 80% of my contracted hours? Are my company required to contribute the extra 20%?

It really is enough to make me despair but glad I never had kids. I have decided to stop all social ( antisocial in reality) media as I am getting angry & would, easily, upset the mob. I knew most are self absorbed but this is so ugly, not to mention dangerous intelligence & common sense don’t seem to go hand in hand Are we not the most selfish moronic nation on the planet, the current panic buying disgusts me ,the Italians are not behaving like this, its appalling. Solution get the Army out now and ration the number of items that can be purchased. I am embarrassed and ashamed to live here. I spoke with a couple of mates who are still with Royal Marines and they are doing drills & are in a state of being ready. It looks like your words could be reality soon

You can get a sick note for your isolation period (called an isolation note) from 111 online. Dont call them back for that, if they didnt give you the details its on 111.nhs.uk That is the equivalent of a doctors note for this. The 80% is for those that cant return to work because work is closed. Unwell or not. Hope this helps

Hope this helps I am in the at risk group and I got a letter, this morning, telling me all of my appointments will be by phone or FaceTime. They are going to be doing this with all but life threatening emergencies from now on. I understand people are very worried about jobs, mortgages and much more but we have to get a grip of this. I do feel sympathy for the self employed but am hoping the government will announce some sort of plan for them. This is going to push many people to the edge and the economy will be so very messed up IF we see an end to it. I can see people going nuts after a relatively short period. Until there is a vaccine, I heard at least a year away, this could potentially be non stop. It’s something I try not to think about but is very real

Could this be easily stopped, by removing all the trolleys and only allow baskets? How many baskets of stuff can you carry? 1 is a pain, 2 is almost impossible, if you load the baskets, and have 1 in each hand, it becomes a nause to put the baskets down to pick something else off the shelves.

I work at Aldi, people are morons. At first we limited stuff to 4 per customer, I personally put up over 60 signs in our small shop and customers still chose to ignore them. They would get angry when the additional items were confiscated and then angry at me when I came down to the tills to explain. They would ask staff on the shop floor about the limits, then choose to ignore the signs and the staff and try their luck at the tills anyway! In return creating more work when we're already rushed off our feet. We've limited toilet rolls to 1 per household, 2 of other stuff etc yet people are still being selfish and wanting more. We've caught people doing a shop, loading it into their car and coming back in to do another - and kicked them out. We've caught couples splitting up to go onto different tills to try and trick the system - and restricted them to just one of them being served. The people who are coming in and respecting the limits and rules in place are those who need it most! Had an NHS nurse come in after a long shift and she had seen the signs and everything was fine except she picked up one extra pack of pasta(was a mixed case so easy mistake), I let her have it because she needs it. People are queuing at 6:30 and we dont even open until 8. We were talking about removing the trolleys but unfortunately you do have people, such as emergency workers, the elderly etc who do not get as much time to shop, can't always make the hours that stores are open specifically for them and who need more than a basket to shop. People just need to step back, food will be on the shelf. Our stock levels are ridiculous we are ordering 3x as much every day people just need to calm down, take a step back and not panic.

I used to be a manager in Sainsburys Hippodrome and I used to hate the Harbour festival because the business was just unreal. We used to create a queuing system where people enter the queue as the enter the store and they’d pick up items whilst being part of the queue. It was the only way to cope, we’d take a weeks revenue in a day! Sounds like that is just a fraction of what you’re dealing with now. Keep your head up mate, you’re doing a fantastic job.

Are we not the most selfish moronic nation on the planet, the current panic buying disgusts me ,the Italians are not behaving like this, its appalling. Solution get the Army out now and ration the number of items that can be purchased. I am embarrassed and ashamed to live here. I spoke with a couple of mates who are still with Royal Marines and they are doing drills & are in a state of being ready. It looks like your words could be reality soon It’s been pretty widely reported that the head of the armed forces is working towards a mid April mobilisation date for all the armed forces to provide some sort of support. It remains to be confirmed whether that’s going to be helping with supermarket “protection”. Seeing as to how they are limiting the number of people who can be in the store at any one time now it may be that that helps to cut down on the nonsense we have been seeing.

CALLING ALL ROVERS FANS! I run the ‘Recovery Through sport project’ which is a NHS project run by NHS community mental health staff, the project helps improve the physical and mental wellbeing of people attending as well as helping to fight social isolation within our community. The project also works closely with the football club to provide mental health education to the youth and development teams as well as having regular player visit from players and management to the group. We wanted to do our bit to raise money to help Bristol families who have a family member effected by mental health who will be struggling finically following Convid-19. We’ve linked up with players past and present from Bristol Rover and Bristol City to hopefully try and make a difference. The fundraiser is offering two lucky fans from each Bristol club the opportunity to win a prize that money can't buy! Each winner will win 2 tickets to watch their chosen Bristol team next season, A personalised video message from each player from either 'Team City' or 'Team Rover' as well as a few more treats. The players from team Rovers are Mark Little, Stuart Sinclair, Chris lines and Kieran Phillips. To enter in the competition follow the link to our JustGiving page and leave a minimum £5 donation. (in the comments box leave your contact number and either #City or #Rovers so they know which prizes you would like to be entered in to win. See link. www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bristolunited (All money raised will go to help people financially effected by Convid-19 who are under the care of Avon and Wiltshire mental health partnership or the Recovery Through Sport project. #mentalhealthmatters #covid19 #teamcity #teamrovers
