Even though everyone knew he was a red. I didn't see many people at twerton not celebrating when Marcus Stewart was knocking them in.

I think players allegiance is to the club they represent or the shirt they wear. Who a player grew up supporting has no bearing on it imo.

The fans of both clubs seem to have a fondness for the same players and interesting that they all seem to be around the late 80s and early 90s. Yet the rivalry amongst both sets of fans was probably the most hostile at any time in our history.

the two Taylors - Shaun & Bob.
Mark Gavin could play a bit as well.
Tinnion was a pretty handy lad for a while.
A good player is a good player, regardless of which shirt they're wearing.

Scott Murray was always a player I looked at for them and though he would be great in the quarters. Louis Carey another good defender who was similar to type we like to have here too.

When i was a kid i went with my dad to watch rovers who we both supported but i used to catch the bus to watch city as i just loved my football. I really liked city captain of the early 70's bobby kellard as he was tough as they come but also a really good footballer. Later i played for backwell united in the western league and gerry sweeney took us training in his spare time and he was a fantastic bloke and trained us with incredible enthusiasm. I played a midweek match for backwell reserves and gerry played for us about 5 years after he played v man utd but he played the game as if his life depended on it. My dad met him recently 30 years after i left backwell and he asked how i was getting on etc,i wasnt sure he would remember me to be honest. Great bloke gerry.
