Medical staff, police etc. are going to be needed in other areas rather than at football matches.
Fans over 70 etc. are going to be in isolation for at least the next 3 months.
Players will need a few weeks of training to get fit again.
Every player, manager, coach, medical staff etc. will need to be tested before a coaching session or match. If any player catches Covid-19 then that club isn't going to be able to train or play matches for 14 days.
Many contracts expire etc. on June 30th. Some will have pre-contracts agreed with other clubs.
Some players will have bonus deals based upon final league position etc. Clubs might save that money if the season is declared void.
Some foreign players may have gone abroad and not able to travel back to the UK.
If the season is ended/void then perhaps Bolton could start next season with the same points deduction as they did this season.
It would be unfair to decide relegation and promotion places based upon the current league standings as clubs have not played all home and away matches. Relegated clubs could make massive claims for loss of income. Clubs who think they were denied promotion wouldn't be able to make such claims as the season wasn't completed.
It could be a good opportunity to delay the start of next season so that it runs throughout the summer months; fewer matches postponed due to the weather, kids can stay up later to watch more midweek matches etc. TV companies could be offered additional matches next season to compensate for loss of matches this season.
Sponsorship deals etc. ending this season could be a challenge to negotiate.
It seems likely that the major European leagues will try to come to an agreement about what to do as there could be an impact upon Champions League places etc. for next season.
If government actions mean that the season isn't able to finish before next season is due to start then leagues could ask the govt for compensation. Therefore it could be in the leagues interest not to declare the season over until the government makes it impossible for this season to be completed.

Not sure we need another thread about the CV, as far as your last point why the hell should tax payers bail the Premiership out? The first thing they need to do is follow rugby's example and make all players take a 25% pay cut.

A couple of questions. Why would footballers, coaches and staff have to be tested before returning to work? If that doesn’t apply in most other industries why should people working in football be treated any differently. Testing is very limited and healthcare workers and other vital industries will be way ahead in the queue. (Unless Idris Elba and Prince Charles can give Rovers some tips on queue jumping!). Fitness levels should still be at a reasonable level with players having been given individual programmes to keep ticking over. I don’t see why they would need any more than a week together before playing. Ok they won’t be 100% match sharp but it will still be a pretty level playing field with all clubs having been in the same situation for a few months.

The PFA is to consider a deal for Premier League players to defer wages in an effort to help clubs deal with cash-flow.

Football is a contact sport and they wouldn't want to take unnecessary risks spreading the virus.

I struggle to see how any “contact” sport could be played whilst these “social distancing” rules are in force. And can’t see them being relaxed anytime soon with no sight on the horizon of it getting better. How can you send such mixed messages when so much has been invested in trying to get people to obey them? Can’t see sport in general starting up again this year tbh. It’s going to be a long haul in my opinion.

However, it's likely to be longer than that still. I wouldn't be surprised it it was around end of July/early August that things start attempting to get back to "normal". So around the very time next season should have been starting.

In my opinion, the remaining of this seasons matches will not be played until early in 2021, there will not be a 2020/21 season.
The next full season will start August 2021 (21/22 season) or earlier so the 22/23 season can be extended to have a break during the 2022 world cup

A customer that I know from work that works for Rolls Royce told me that the government has put an request in for them to build some ventilators and negotiations were on going as the governments around the world believe this is going to taken over 2 years to control and for life to get back to normal. The guy is a legit guy and not the Bullshitting type and Ive known him for years. If this is the case then this is a far graver problem then first thought and we are heading not only into a recession but a worldwide depression with over 20% being out of work.If so the problems caused by that will be far worse than this virus will be. Thus I cant see us watching the Gas for a very long time and sadly some clubs will fold.

I don't believe the government should be held accountable for the season ending because they've imposed a lockdown.
They've done that for the good of the general population. Football is a nice to have commodity, but isn't vital to the country functioning.
There's going to be a huge debt that needs paying off when this is all over. The period of austerity just ended will be as nothing to what's around the corner. Get used to tax and price increases, it's as inevitable as Spring follows winter.

The whole world should put pressure on the chinese for this and they should pay the bills that each country has to pay for the world's economy crashing as it has and will. They f**ked this thing up and Trumps right its the Chinese flu. The lady gardens either covered up when the outbreak began, they live like animals with the wet farms where its said to have started from. To be honest I dont think anyone can rule out the chance that this was not released on purpose by them as a bio weapon to slow down the west's economy due to how well it was doing. After this ends there are going to be alot of answers that those fuckers need to step up and answer one way or another.

Talking to a few mates last night over the phone and we all agreed NO sports until 2021. However: how plausible is it to have a plan B ?. All sports to be played with less than 500 in total. The setting up of checkpoints via security and testing prior to entry ?. In this way all games could be screened live generating an income and fixtures could be completed in a token way. This would hopefully create a surge in people signing up for SKY BT etc to watch major sports over the summer months. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/52063330 ( Click link ) This is a model being considered by EWCB in tests against West Indies . I know this is a desperate proposal . The alternative is NO sports for up to 12 months. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/52063330

You can never trust a totalitarian regime, and some of their actions, if carried out by any other country, would be roundly condemned. I'm thinking about the annexation of Tibet, their treatment of Chinese Muslims, treatment of animals in their markets, running people over with tanks, etc etc. Just because they have yellow skin and are Asian doesn't mean you have to defend them blindly and accuse anyone with a different view as being, and I quote "Far right, thoughtless nasty little sh**" Weve moved on from being able to shut down any discussion by crying 'Racist' and I think you ought to apologise.

Well, obviously the Chinese regime is sh** I'm not defending them, but 'they live like animals' is sh**. The idea that they engineered the virus for economic war is pretty fantastic, and obviously needs more than a stupid whim to back it up. Also if you're conflating the people with the regime, that doesn't make any sense. Either people are living like animals and they caused the virus accidentally, or the regime engineered it on purpose. Not both. Think about it. If you're trying both, it just looks like you're just throwing mindless sh** hoping some of it sticks. Also however much they tried to cover it up, we still had several months warning where we did absolutely nothing except watch it on telly. So the cover up was clearly not the cause of our lack of preparedness. I never mentioned anything about racism, but this is like the fourth time you've brought it up for no reason. You're obsessed. I mentioned far right coz the far right forums are a hotbed of stupid conspiracy theories, like the Chinese govt did it on purpose.
