Wael: we would love to renew our season tickets but both my self and partner are now Furlough, 80% of our wages, life right now is about human survival and not luxury items such as season tickets, it is in poor taste at this moment in time to ask the fans for their money when it is paramount that we put our loved one’s first. Please postpone season ticket sales until this plague has been defeated and we can return to normality and then we can once again think about football tickets, unfortunately right now your request as printed below is in poor taste and judgement: Taken from you open letter posted today as below - my comments above are in reply. Renew your season ticket now - Generating income through season tickets will go some way to filling the gap of lost through the previously mentioned revenue streams over the current period. We would urge all supporters planning to renew to do so as soon as possible, either in full or on our current 11month finance plan. Surely it's ok to just let people who want to renew season tickets to renew them, and those that don't to don't.

Problem is that we may not have a club to support if it doesn't have some kind of income from the supporters over the next few not, apart from limited income from the club shop sales, season tickets are the only way to get any income from supporters. Unless you have a stand season tickets then there will always be season tickets for sale on the terrace areas in any event.

There are a lot of ‘us’ with stand season tickets and have renewed every season, but right now it is impossible for us to do so, maybe the club should realize a lot of people are in the same boat and can’t afford the luxury of our season ticket right now, maybe the club should honor this fact and give the chance to renew at a later date when this hell is over!!

Sure we should be looking to make it easier for people (making the renewal period longer for instance).
There’s no harm in asking those who are in a secure form of employment to buy their tickets early if they can though, to further safe guard the club.

I thought his statement was perfectly reasonable, thanking those who have renewed, whilst being aware that some are not able to at the moment - and the club is looking at ways they can be supportive.
"I also wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who has already renewed their season ticket. We have been astounded by the level of support with season ticket sales at this time compared to the same period last year! We appreciate that not all supporters will be in a financial position to commit to us in the short-term, so provisions are being made to ensure that nobody misses out."

You can buy all sorts of stuff off the internet these days, making 3 separate payments, over 3 months rather than 1 lump sum. I don't see why this couldn't not be manageable way of working around potential cash flow issues people are having.

I’ve just renewed my season ticket, although I don’t have a lot of disposable income ,what I do have I spend on watching the Gas (may have to cut back on some away games though). I was also impressed (some may say taken in) by Wael’s open letter. Stay safe everyone.

Under normal circumstances sure, but there are many out there who have just lost their jobs, and those who are unable to work right now who may be self employed or working in an industry where they have no idea when they'll be able to return to work. Even with the 80% guarantees those who earn over £2500 a month (and that's not an outrageous turnover / salary) might be feeling things a little tight right now. People tend to live to their earnings so even the well off (and that could include our players) could be having sleepless nights right now trying to figure out how they're going to pay their bills. Medically, mentally and economically we need this bastard disease to come to an end as soon as we can it's crippling societies all around the world.

Given most of ours are out of contract in April & May I doubt that'll help us much anyway?

Just checked and it's under £50 a month on the club's finance plan, although I've no idea if the finance co. does credit checks.

I've just renewed too, ok I'm fortunate that I can work from home so my salary is not affected, but I don't think the sentiment from Wael was incorrect. He acknowledged not everyone can but at the same time positioned the importance of season ticket finance to a club like ours. I know he has been silent for too long but I for one am prepared to take his statement at face value. These are unprecedented times for individuals and organisations and there is no one size fits all way of dealing with it. Less than 3 weeks since the Sunderland game but it feels like 3 months!!

Isn't this more or less what he said by "We appreciate that not all supporters will be in a financial position to commit to us in the short-term, so provisions are being made to ensure that nobody misses out"? Of course we're all being put through the mill due to these crazy circumstances, and some more than others, but I'm afraid that it seems to me that you've taken issue with something said in Wael's statement that simply isn't there?
