A little light relief...........
I usually stand on the open East Terrace, leaning on the top barrier. The usual people are there match after match, and we stand in roughly the same places, moving left or right if someone's missing or a few extra friends have turned up. A few months ago I wasn't feeling too good and it was pouring down with rain, so I decided to move along to the partly covered area behind the team benches. I got there really early, found a barrier to lean on (which I need to) behind the away bench and started to look around. I must have been the first there as there was no-one
to my left and the barriers in front and behind were clear. I then heard a voice behind me, saying, ' I stand there.' My first reaction was to say, 'That's nice!' It turned out to be a lady, possibly in her 50/60s, so I decided to be a gent and moved along.
Has this happened to anyone else, or how do you feel if you turn up and someone else, perhaps with mates, is on the part of the terrace where you usually stand?

Yea this happened to me in the uplands. People are very possessive of their spot.

Yes I’ve had someone say to me “ this is my spot”. My reply was ... “ not today mate “

It's sad enough going to watch us every other week let alone being obsessive about "my spot". Some people need to get a life!

Happens at the Thatcher's End quite a bit - I tend to get to the ground early and have a couple of spots which I favour dependent on who I'm with. On one occasion I was on my own with only maybe a dozen on the whole terrace. Three chaps then proceeded to stand right next to me and immediately behind me despite the fact the whole terrace was empty! It transpired I had ventured into 'their' space and they made it uncomfortable for me to stay where I was......Being an awkward bugger I refused to move......
Most of the time the guys and gals I stand next to are great fun and I have some good banter with them.
Strange how people have 'territorial rights' - although I recall it was similar in the North Enclosure in the Eastville days.

It takes a really special sort of w**ker to tell someone where they can or cannot stand on a terrace.

Hmmm in fairness if it was right at the front- there is a family that stand there each match.
I think theres an element of fair and unfair about it. I'd say those who attend 95% of home games should be able to stand somewhere reasonably familiar. At the same time- a single person shouldn't make too much difference. And there "reserved section" isnt theres absolute.
A further caveat- that particular part of the stadium can become an away fan over spill (where away fans have purchased tickets for the home end) if by chance you were mistaken for a cheeky away fan- perhaps that's why you got dismissed.
I'd suggest opening up a chat- you'll quickly know if there's room for a extra one.

It is absurd to think that just because you spend 95% of all home games stood in the same place that you should have some claim over that patch If it means that much to you (and really it shouldn't) then get to the game earlier to secure your patch - and don't even think about popping to the loo or getting a drink at half time, mind

I generally stand in about 20 places during a game.... Arrive alone, leave alone but find as many as miserable buggers as I can to chat to during the 90 mins....
I sort of enjoy the people more than the football....

If you want a guaranteed spot then buy a season ticket with a seat. The terraces are completely fair game IMO.

When we can get to the ground i either stand at the box end of the thatchers never had anyone moan about their spot, or if i need to calm i tend to stand with the younger fans in their 20's around the middle ot the thatchers and have a great laugh with em everytime i fall on me arse they pick i up ,great bunch they are

But I'm happy for others to have a claim. I'm a proud memorial ground nomad.
