has anyone else heard the leaked tape from yesterday’s players meeting. It sounds like Alex Rodman is acting as players union rep and sounds as if there will be no resumption of the current season
I have no idea how to upload it as it’ has been sent to me as a WhatsApp message

Think it pretty much states the obvious. I've thought for a while the season wouldn't end, I also think we'll see League One & Two clubs on mass cancel the contracts of their players on July 1st.

If the league starts in June and there’s no relegation and little prospect of crowds attending games until 2021 why would any club renew expired contracts. Anyone with no realistic chance of making the top three may as well give the kids a run out.
Saving money is the most important issue regarding lower league clubs. Once someone decides if and when the 2020-21 is to start up I’m sure we could cobble together some sort of team from all the out of contract players.

What idiot amongst our players would record a private conversation and then pass it on to all and sundry, lets hope the club's doesn't get even more bad publicity in the national press over this.
Given the BP are saying "A senior figure at the EFL is said to find it "optimistic" that the remaining matches of the 2019/20 season will re-start in June while games, when they do kick-off, are unlikely to be played in front of supporters until 2021, unless a vaccine can be found" I'm not sure why the OP is suggesting the tape says the opposite? Although how many EFL clubs can actually survive until 2021 w/o any money from home games?

daft to leak it, or pass it on to someone you trust who then leaks it, but that said it's hardly sensitive info
In some ways it's better thta it's out in the open

Is it just me that thinks this has been blown out of proportion? What's so wrong with what Alex Rodman has done? He's passed on a message that needed passing on to his fellow professionals that would want an update. Then someone has passed it on again, and then someone else again, and we have it now in the public domain. So what?

Alex Rodman hasn’t done anything wrong. He’s using the player’ WhatsApp group to pass on information and garner a response - perfectly sensible as they can’t meet in person.

What it could do is have undue influence on other factors - the point re some clubs categorically saying the won’t pay etc and if (don’t know if there is) there are any people betting on season resumption or player moves etc it could give undue influence..... bit like insider dealing in Financial services.... Had to be our club though that leaked it. No doubt will put the club in bad light with EFL and is another embarrassing press story that will definitely go national because of content. Let’s hope we don’t get any form of sanction or fine due to breaking confidentiality....

The only negatives from it that I see is that it harms season ticket sales for next season. Sponsors and broadcasters will be demanding money back now and this season's tickets will need to be refunded. All money that clubs can't afford to give back.

I think that this may do some good. When talking about players contracts, severance money and families livelihoods it should really hit home that the footballers in the lower leagues are just doing a job. It's not all about whether Liverpool will be champions or not.

It's just embarrassing for the club that confidential information that the EFL didn't want out in the open just yet has been leaked from our end. Rodman's done nothing wrong but the guy in the chat who's passed it on to his mates has.

Yeah, might not be the best for negotiations, but it's good to see this at the sharp end of the EFL, and what your average pro's have to put up with, instead of just assuming they're all greedy bastards.

Especially when those out of contract have got next to no chance of getting another one somewhere else.
