Looks like scholar Luc Noble has left the club. Was highly rated at one stage, had captained the Wales youth side and got good reviews against Southampton in the FA Youth cup earlier this season. Posted on Twitter thanking the club for the last 7 years and saying Looking forward to a new challenge and fresh start. If he was that highly rated it's possible a bigger club came in for him, means we'll be due some compensation I suppose.

I think the golden age of agents is over at least at our level. Players (and fans) have to be realistic. I would not expect players to move far from home for one year contracts so we should expect local players getting more chances. For the likes of Ollie C, I would expect him to be offered a 50% pay cut, but with the promise of a testimonial.Journeymen may still be around for a few years as they know they can get a pension at 35, if they don't have any other trade. We may offer contracts to players who we may get something under the Bosman ruling, Kelly, Meyanese, Hargreaves, Tomlinson etc but the wages just won't be there. Saying that, the likes of Peterborough and Ipswich may gamble for promotion. The current championship bottom 3, plus the teams who don't go up this season means it is going to be difficult for anyone else unless they play a blinder in the transfer market. Pretty pointless being promised a testimonial until there's some signs fans will actually be able to attend them? You do wonder what is the point next season of having anything but league and FA Cup games the rest may as well be forgotten.

I personally think Ollie C needs a move, he's 27 and has been at Rovers his whole career, next season will be his 11th at the club, he might find that a new experience helps him become a better player. Football is only a short career, love his loyalty to the club though.

Players such as OC who may have gambled at a move to another club will almost certainly stay. Clubs themselves will have far less time and funds to plan until the next season than would have been originally thought and many players who would have been released otherwise will be offered new deals.

I don't know why or where people think OC would go. I think he has reached his limit, being a local lad as well. He would struggle to get in my first 11 so he's got it quite easy really. He'd be one player I definitely wouldn't expect to leave us for a higher club.

Not sure if you're referring to what I said but I never mentioned a 'bigger' club. 10 seasons is a long time to be at the same club and if not for the virus OC may well have fancied a new challenge at a different club of similar stature, but as I said with everything that's happened/restrictions on budget etc the players that may have been thinking that way may well have changed their minds, clubs also.

Post report today never mentioned Nichols or Reilly being out of contract Pretty sure even Nichols suggested he needed to sort something out for next season when he left on loan.

I was told tomorrow or Monday. I think most clubs in Div 1 and 2 will be working with smaller squads and younger and cheaper players apart from us who have yet another year of the useless Bennett

Can we leave players we're not sure about on furlough ? You can leave whomever you want on furlough, they wont be able to train though and it will prevent them finding other clubs.

Surely at that point they won’t need to be furloughed? They’re just unemployed and won’t be getting paid at all until they either sign a new contract here or sign for someone else.

Win, win, win as far as money goes.

I can't see OC or Serc's being out of work for long! Plus in this age the players agents will know what offers are being made.

Plus in this age the players agents will know what offers are being made. The dole thing was said in jest. I don’t think getting a full time contract at a professional club is going to be a problem for any of our squad if they get released. However given the current situation and the uncertainty around finances in football at this level, they might have to drop a level or take a considerable pay cut. Both the players you mentioned are also local, and OC in particular has never played for another club. Sercombe has never played in a considerably different area of the country. Depending on their willingness to move, their options might be limited and taking a pay cut to stay at the club might be their best option. It also might not be but it’s plausible.
