Surely what most posters are missing is that this is an EFL proposal, I assume following on from the Mansfield's owner's suggestions, I can't see it come from the Premiership clubs wanting a Major League type set up with no relegation/promotion etc.

Think you've put 2 and 2 together and made 5 if you've come to that. Relegation is part of what makes the Premier League what it is with the relegation battles and great escapes. No chance they want to get rid of it, especially when the likes of Sheffield United and Wolves have been promoted and been very successful in recent years. Getting rid of relegation would make people lost interest especially when only a handful of clubs can realistically win the league. Imagine Liverpool winning the league by over 100 points and no relegation battle to keep people interested. They would be switching off in their droves. you would still have promotion and relegation from Pl1 and 2 though. but those 32/36 clubs would be protected from the financial harshness of the remnants of the EFL

Ask a fan of a club like Norwich if they'd want relegation in the premier league to be abolished and even though it would benefit them enormously I suspect as a fan of football they'd be against it. Their players would be coasting now (or when it returns I should say) if it wasn't for the pressure that trying to pick up points to avoid relegation brings.

Think a few need to relax a bit here, its probably just the first idea. Hopefully some edits will be made along the way that benefit everyone.
But I do agree that this needs to be done across the entire EFL, not just L1&2

Think I read somewhere that a Championship club that is relegated will keep their wage structure for the next season …. so the bouncing between divisions of the likes of Barnsley and Rotherham would be nicely waterproofed. Throw in a big club failing like Ipswich or the likes of Sunderland again and you have no chance to compete. Think the Powers that Rule have waited for a moment like this …. A chance to finally rid themselves of the smaller teams. Absolutely, the whole thing completes stinks. I'd be all for wage caps ONLY if it's across the board. This new proposal is purely about keeping the lower league clubs safely tucked away in their place as subservient lower class. It's all been designed for years, bit by bit. Not many batted an eyelid at the Elite Player Performance Plan, and then the banning of emergency loans, and then the introduction of the B teams into the EFL Trophy. It's an absolute disgrace, and frankly I am almost at the end of my tether with football.

Nice for them to include the Championship in these proposals, because their losses are the most absurd...oh wait... Some are losing more than our total debt, in a year. The higher you go, the note it costs to try and compete.

Indeed, and yet they won't introduce a wage cap there because the clubs are too big with too much influence, and no doubt the smaller Premier League clubs would veto it anyway. The L1 and L2 clubs don't matter, so they can introduce whatever the hell they like down here.
