Just wondering, if it were decided that next season’s games were to all be played behind closed doors ( or even if say there was a delayed start to the season followed by at least half the season behind closes doors), would we have to play the games at the Mem, or theoretically could we host competitive matches at The Colony? If this were the case it would allow time for some renovations at The Mem or may even just be cheaper to operate than an empty stadium on match day. The only issue i see is it would be harder to keep fans out.
Surely many of the usual criteria for stadia standards are not relevant if there is no crowd?

Interesting thought but I'm not sure because you've got to ensure all sorts of things are in accordance to league rules such as making sure there are dressing rooms for the home team, away team and match officials that all meet the league regulations, you've also got to have facilities so that the games can be streamed on iFollow, adequate access for the emergency services ect.
Just can't see the Colony having the required facilities unless the EFL change the rules in a significant way.
May as well use the Mem when all the facilities are there, it wouldn't cost too much to play games behind closed doors I wouldn't have thought, when you're not paying for stewarding, turnstile staff, catering etc.

Surely if the 2metre rule is changed we could play games with a small crowd at a safe distance using just the seats available it would bring in some income ?

Up until the Sunderland game it looked as though the players adopted their own 2m rule as they couldnt get close to the opposition. They were ahead of their time...

I think that'll cost money rather than bringing any in unfortunately. Can't remember which club (think it may have Stevenage or at least another league 2 club) said that with social distancing they'd be operating at 6% capacity so with stewarding and other matchday related costs they'd be at a loss.
It would be a proper weird atmosphere with a limited crowd. Imagine the players being able to single out the bloke from the crowd giving them dogs abuse for 90mins!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only way you'll be able to watch Rovers next season if at all is by purchasing a season ticket.

lol. Its harsh that they wont get the opportunity to play themselves out of trouble (as Wimbledon successfully did last season), especially after 3 away wins on the bounce before the season abruptly ended.

The only issue i see is it would be harder to keep fans out. Surely many of the usual criteria for stadia standards are not relevant if there is no crowd? I'm fairly certain and in answer to your first question - professional football matches cannot be played at The Colony.
