Should we not use the Beaufort hunt as a nod to our ex-President the 10th Duke of Beaufort? We also played games at Badminton!

Given we're using experts in the field then you'd assume they'd given the club advice on what was the best surface and how to maintain the the pitches? For a pleasant change at Rovers we seem to have got professionals doing a professional job. Em, shall we see the finished product first? No. Decide if its going to be amazing or sh** right now! WHICH?

Whilst I accept what Gasincider has said regarding the fact that topsoil is no longer used for football pitches, I do wonder where the grass will get its nutrients, and how sand can hols everything together when there are blokes wearing studs and running all over the surface and kicking lumps out of it. According to one of the pitch installers (not ours) website, the method is a gravel base containing the drainage pipes, a layer of sand over that and finally a sand/soil layer on top. The grass roots grow down into the sand layer, so I suppose that makes sense of both your comment and Gasincider's.

I can't wait for the new stadium thread were posters are questioning if we're using the correct pile drives, steel work, concrete, electric cabling etc, etc.

A caller on Geoff Twentyman. Geoff replied "I've heard that as well" and from that point on it was a fact whether it is or not actually fact.

Well exactly. I don't suppose you fancy getting involved in a near endless, circular, debate about whether Geoff saying that he'd "heard" that was an endorsement of the truth of the statement do you? To save you time the Gaschat Detective Agency (a sister institution to the Gaschat Google University which has produced professors emeritus in fields as diverse as tax law, accounting, planning law, psychology, sports science and now apparently ground works and pitch laying) are certain that it is.

I don't really understand what the problem with the fox sh** is. Surely if you're first out on a field in the morning and you see some sh** on the pitch you clear it up coz you don't want it all over you in the middle of a sliding tackle, and you wouldn't want that to happen to any of your teammates. Can't think of all the stuff I've cleared off of a pitch on a Sunday morning with a hangover before a pub match. It's just a fact of life, espeically in Bristol which is supposed to have an exceptional fox population. Genuinely don't see what the problem is. If a professional footballer thinks the club should send out some sort of dedicated fox sh** spotter and cleaner-upper of a morning coz they are too precious to deal with it, then I'd suggest the problem is with them, not the club. I mean, it's a bit of fox sh**, ffs. Where the f**k are foxes supposed to sh**?

You can’t imagine Man City’s training ground having the same issue can you? I’m with you in that on a personal level I’d be happy to just clear it up myself, but these are professional footballers we’re talking about. And their ego will mean they think doing that is below them.
