If true...I think it will depend on contract length given by Mansfield and that's it. Would they match his wages? Probably, can't imagine they offer more. Being from Bristol and working his way up to the first team. If it was me, I wouldn't be dropping down a league at 28 years old. I would at least wait until I've had a proper full season under Garner (if he lasts that's long) and see what happens after that. They can offer more, especially if the rumours are true about us offering reduced terms. They managed to tempt our former manager too!

God awful place. I know which club I’d much rather play for.
Sadly I also know who I’d rather play for too.

It’s being reported on the Mansfield forum though they are using the Bristol Live as a source, same idea going round in circles I guess. If I could I’d include the link, but I don’t know how. 😢 stagsnet.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37153&start=350#p831484UTG! edit: just played around and have included the link. Blimey this place is getting educational!

This sort of thing happens in football all the time, the landscape can change by the hour let alone by the day. Not that often outside of a transfer deadline day, and without whispers or rumours? It happened to us last year with Bakayoko and with Platt many moons ago. It happens, players verbally agree something and then someone comes in last minute and offers a better deal. It’s agents doing their job. I actually think the post is a lot better than it used to be

We want communication and the post update us with their news.
If they didn’t update us people would moan.
They update us and people moan.
On this one if GC offers him a longer deal on better money and first team football then you know what, good luck to him, after all at his age in a young mans world, this may be his last decent contract and last opportunity to not be on a contract with some bargaining power.
If he signs the one year with us - great, he’s the leader of the dressing room and a proper rovers lad.
Either way I’ll clap him if or when he next steps on to the hallowed turf of the mem.

Strange they are outbidding an L1 side when it's there owner pushing for the salary cap to be brought in for next season. Although having watched OC struggle all last season I doubt many of us will be too concerned if he leaves for Mansfield. Just as long as we don't bring in another youngster to replace him.

Who will get the Captain's armband now he's gone?

Who will get the Captain's armband now he's gone? Most of our squad currently are still using armbands.

Who will get the Captain's armband now he's gone? Out of the current squad, I would give it to Kilgour. Another local lad who seems a natural leader. However, if the Ehmer rumours prove to be true then I think it would be him.

He puts a lot of money in to the club so with him wanting a salary cap my suspicion is he will use that so no team can pay any more than him but he’ll bump contracts up with bonuses so they’ll still technically outbid other teams but if the signing doesn’t work out it won’t cost him money.

Not that often outside of a transfer deadline day, and without whispers or rumours? How would the BP know GC was going to be sneakily enough to come in at the 11th hour with an offer, he's probably been planning this all summer as I doubt if he's suddenly decided he needs a CM. Personally I can't see he's a loss if he goes, the fact OC's seemingly now happy to drop a division perhaps suggests that he feels he's not up to L1 football. Weren't we asking you how they would know anything about Wael's dealings with his family last week and you said they were a credible news source? Make your mind up.

Bradford and Bolton depends on how covids affected them and I don’t think Bolton are in a good place financially still, I reckon will see smaller clubs do better this season and maybe a few shock promotions.

With football currently how it is due to the covid-19 situation, a lot of clubs would have lost money and would be receiving less profit meaning under the FFP rules, their wage budget would be a lot lower, so I would be surprised if a League 2 club outbids a League 1 club with wages. But I think OC will make his decision on game time. I don't think anyone on here knows what game time BG is prepared to give OC next season.

As I've said before, I'm not fussed about the age of the signings this summer as long as they improve us. We already have plenty of experience with the likes Anssi, Little, Ogogo, Upson, Rodman, JCH etc.

Who will get the Captain's armband now he's gone? JCH or Ogogo? Or one of the potentially new CB's

I find it strange how managers can offer guaranteed game time if you sign with us. Surely if you then sign and you're totally useless, you're going to end up on the bench.

I agree but some players get it in their contract that if they are fit then they play. Well, so I've been told anyway!
