With Ollie’s departure It means the last player to have played non-league football for Rovers has now left the club. In addition it means there is now only one player on the books who has made more than 50 league starts for us (Upson 66+2) whilst one other player has made more than 50 league appearances for us (Rodman 41+15). It also means that the earliest a current player made their League debut for us was in the 2017/18 season (Andre, Bennett, Kelly, Menayese, Russe)....and because Andre made his first appearance as a sub in our 6th League game of the season he is technically our longest serving player!
The close season departures also mean there are only 43 Rovers League goals in the whole squad and with 24 JCH has more than half of them, no other player has double figures (Rodman has 7, Bennett, Ogogo and Upson have 3 each).
The team has 35 + 6 home grown league appearances in it (Kilgour, Russe, Tomlinson) and 2 home grown league goals in it (Kilgour).

Ollie was a superb servant with a sharp shot in his locker I suspect he was not offered a particularly good contract with the Rovers and realized his career was now likely on a downward slope with us. Probably not captain and maybe even not an automatic choice for next season.

It’s being reported on the Mansfield forum though they are using the Bristol Live as a source, same idea going round in circles I guess. If I could I’d include the link, but I don’t know how. 😢 stagsnet.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=37153&start=350#p831484UTG! edit: just played around and have included the link. Blimey this place is getting educational! Great ,that's you graduated from the techno dunces class, left on me own now ! Don’t worry, I won’t do my homework and I’ll be back with you in the back row soon! UTG!

What replacement would gasheads like to bring in? I think Josh Grant can do what Ollie Clarke does, and a far better player technically. He's more defensive minded, and also plays at Centre Back, he's great at winning the ball back and has a good range of passing. Obviously we need more creativity and hopefully we've got a few players lined up in that department.

Thanks for everything Ollie, you played a big part in two vital promotions for the club and will always be considered "one of our own". Scored some fantastic goals for us over the years over the years, the volleys into the top corner at Newport and Eastleigh away spring to mind first.
Best of luck at your new club, truly a player that is welcome back at the mem any time.

Are we gonna get a video of Carolyn Radford picking him up from outside the bus station?

'Rovers have always done well by our 'own' and Ollie is one who gave lots and deserves our thanks for many a good result. It is always a shame when home grown players find that somewhere else is more attractive and hopefully we will not be regretting that we did not do more to try and keep him. Let us hope this was not simply down to not enough money which I fear might be the case.

Istr our first season back in league 1 we had c. 9 players on over 100 appearances each.

With the goalie being sent off (unfairly) and then us going down 1-0 within minutes of it just before the end of the 1st half, the 2nd half with 10 men was unbelievable. Oliie scoring a 30 yarder from nothing on LHS and then jumping to the fans on the other side of the metal fence. I was on the other side of it waiting to catch him but ..... Thank you for all the memories AND Good Luck Ollie. UTG

Let us hope this was not simply down to not enough money which I fear might be the case. I don't think it is just that. I just don't think Garner rates him a a much as GC does. Garner may be like me and see him as a squad player instead of team captain. GC obviously rates and values him highly added to the fact Mansfield do seem to be throwing money at trying to get promoted then you can see how this move has come about. In some ways it might make things easier for Garner as I didn't want OC as captain, so may find a better candidate and save a few quid for the budget. My only worry is we are beginning to look short on experience/leadership and home grown talent. Maybe a bit early for him but Kilgour would be a good captain I feel albeit a slightly left field appointment as captain.

Weird one, this. Our need for a routine/not wanting change made me want Ollie to stay. But deep down I knew that if we want to kick on, he probably needs to go. He's a bottom 6 L1 midfielder and goes missing WAY too often. But on his day he's superb and his crunching tackles will be missed.
It's always sad to see a youth product leave too.
Honestly, he's probably the player I give the best wishes to in the future. Loved watching him play and develop with us through the years.
He'll always get a standing ovation from me, whenever he returns to the Mem.

[others recently include Lockyer, Matty Taylor, Ellis, Joe Jacobsen, Sinclair, Leadbitter, Bonham, etc]
